Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Civil Superintendent to oversee and manage civil engineering projects with a primary focus on ALDOT work. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in project management, with a strong background in sitework, mass grading, and various utilities. This role requires someone who can effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously while ensuring adherence to ALDOT standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Management: Oversee and manage civil engineering projects from inception to completion. Ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
Team Leadership: Lead and supervise project teams, including field staff and subcontractors. Provide guidance, support, and motivation to ensure high performance and efficiency.
ALDOT Compliance: Ensure all projects comply with ALDOT standards, regulations, and requirements. Handle all ALDOT-required paperwork and documentation.
Technical Expertise: Utilize your knowledge in sitework, mass grading, underground utilities (storm water, sanitary sewer, and water), retention ponds, and concrete to effectively plan, execute, and monitor projects.
Coordination: Coordinate with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution. Resolve any issues or conflicts that arise during the project lifecycle.
Quality Control: Monitor and enforce quality control measures to maintain high standards of work. Conduct regular site inspections to ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
Reporting: Prepare and present project status reports, including progress, risks, and any deviations from the project plan. Maintain detailed records of project activities and outcomes.
Requirements:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in ALDOT work is essential, with a preference for 10 years or more. Proven experience at the Superintendent level is required; foreman experience is not sufficient.
Expertise: Strong background in sitework, mass grading, underground utilities (storm water, sanitary sewer, and water), retention ponds, and concrete work.
ALDOT Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of ALDOT requirements and the ability to handle all related paperwork and documentation.
References: Must provide professional references that can verify past performance and suitability for the role.
Skills: Excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and effectively resolve issues as they arise.
Education: A degree in Civil Engineering, Building Science, Construction Management or a related field is preferred, but not mandatory if substantial experience compensates.
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced certifications or additional training in civil engineering and project management.
Experience with other relevant software and tools for project management and reporting.
