Job Description: Position Title: Prospect Research Analyst Position Type: Full-Time FLSA Classification: Exempt Branch: Museum Relations Department: Development Reports to: Director of Development Position Summary The Prospect Research Analyst reports to the Director of Development and will actively contribute to the qualification and identification of major gift prospects with the goal of expanding the major gift donor pool for the organization and assist in implementing a comprehensive research and prospect management practice. These efforts involve researching and writing profiles on donors and prospects, as well as providing strategic analysis of the existing and potential donor pipeline and coordinating in the process for the identification of new prospects. Principal Responsibilities (Essential Functions) Reactive Research (35%) Conduct research and nuanced analysis of biographical, philanthropic, professional, and financial information of individuals, corporations, and foundations to inform accurate narratives and assess prospects’ affinity and giving capability. Create both succinct and in-depth research profiles that will assist fundraisers in determining appropriate cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies. Respond to requests from fundraisers in the research queue, adhering to deadlines and maintaining positive, productive relationships. Follow best practices with respect for prospect and donor confidentiality while entering and maintaining research data our fundraising CRM Tessitura. Proactive Research (35%) Regularly participate in prospecting projects to identify, research, and distribute qualified leads to help build and sustain a strong pipeline of prospects and donors. Utilize prospect research tools such as LexisNexis, DonorSearch, iWave, Factiva, and Foundation Center to conduct further analysis and assist with prospecting. Assist with analyzing screenings of the prospect pool to gauge assets, giving capacities and philanthropic interests. Contribute ideas and insights that support prospect development strategies and initiatives. Remain aware of Crystal Bridges and the Momentary’s leaders and top donors. Data Management and Operational Support (20%) Actively participate in the recording, updating, and monitoring of prospect research, prospect identification, prospect management, proposal support, and fundraising activity pipeline. Assist with the preparation of reports for research, prospecting, pipeline, and prospect management purposes. Promote best practices in gathering, storing, and maintaining data in the fundraising CRM. Collaborate to enhance and deepen portfolio and pipeline management and implementation across Crystal Bridges and the Momentary. Development Team Collaboration (10%) Embrace and adopt the ideals of the Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility (IDEA to foster diversity, inclusion, and tolerance within the museum and to influence policy. Understand and proactively support cross-functional relationships and the importance of collaborative work that capitalizes on opportunities for teamwork. Supports alignment to achieve successful completion of department expectations and deliverables to achieve activity and revenue goals. Minimum Qualifications Three years’ experience with research techniques, emphasizing the ability to gather, evaluate and synthesize complex data from various sources, apply intelligence and interpretative insights and present information in a clear and cohesive manner. Working knowledge of fundraising CRMs such as Razor’s Edge, Donor Perfect, and Tessitura. Working knowledge of prospect management software such as LexisNexis, Foundation Center, and iWave. Familiarity with or strong interest in fundraising and/or nonprofit organizations. Exceptional reading, technical writing, and proofreading skills with the ability to synthesize and interpret high volumes of data. Careful attention to detail, formatting, and readability; ability to convey complex information clearly and write concisely. Willingness to learn and embrace the mission and goals of Crystal Bridges. Preferred Qualifications Proficiency in fundraising CRM Tessitura. Proficiency in prospect management software iWave. Experience working in a nonprofit or higher education development space. Education, Training, and Traits Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience in development, research, or related field Strong analytical and critical thinking skills in data analysis to translate data into actionable information. Outstanding writing skills and adept at understanding and conveying complexity, nuance, and enthusiasm. Proficiency in MS Office Suite including Microsoft Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Teams. Proficiency in AP writing style. Ability to apply good judgment, discretion, and a commitment to professional ethics and data security when dealing with highly confidential donor and prospect information. Excellent written and oral communications skills that convey information clearly and concisely. Detail-oriented, self-starter with an ability to work independently and manage competing priorities in a deadline sensitive environment. Ability and willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends with an attitude of doing what it takes to get the job done.
