As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will organize and coordinate the activities and flow of work for the patient access area, assign tasks, monitor performance of and assist in the training of Patient Service Representatives, screen candidates, recommend hires, conduct performance appraisals, recommend corrective counseling, make adjustments to caregivers’ schedules, resolve operational problems and develop, implement and oversee programs to improve appointment utilization. Job Details Responsibilities: Organizes and coordinates the activities and flow of work for the patient access area. Assigns tasks, monitors performance of and assists in training patient service representative. Screens candidates, recommends hires, conducts performance appraisals and recommends corrective counseling. Develops, implements and oversees programs to improve appointment utilization such as, reminder, follow-up on no-show/cancellation program. Coordinates activities and resolves operational problems. Makes adjustment in employees, patients and physicians schedules to respond to operational problems. Controls and audits the reconciliation of day sheets including adjusting statistics in the computer data bank. Produces reports as needed. Other duties as assigned. Education: High School Diploma or GED. Certifications: None required. Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action. Work Experience: Minimum two years Cleveland Clinic outpatient scheduling experience or other equivalent position, which includes interacting with patients, physicians and other departments on a problem resolution basis. OR Minimum three years external outpatient scheduling experience where demonstrated experience includes resolving patient scheduling and the coordination of the work of others. Associate Degree may substitute for one year of experience. Bachelor's Degree may substitute for the experience requirement. Physical Requirements: Requires frequent data entry, sitting, standing and walking. Normal or corrected vision, hearing and speech. Occasional lifting or pushing up to 25 pounds. Personal Protective Equipment: Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
