General Description:

The Mechanic Apprentice position is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and incidental mechanical repairs on various customer mechanical rotating equipment. Mechanics may be required to design, modify, and fabricate equipment to certain standards by request. This position will also perform a variety of facility maintenance tasks.

 

This position will be responsible for driving CCI's Mission, Vision, and Values, a crucial part of the strategic plan to drive success.   • Comply with all guidelines, policies and procedures established by CCI while on shift, on call or attending training.
  • Demonstrate professional skills and capabilities equal to a Certified Mechanic.
  • Proficiency with problem solving and the ability to complete timely maintenance and repair on equipment and machinery including static and rotating mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct all routine and non-routine preventative maintenance (PM’s) on CCI/Kakivik and Customer’s equipment according to designated PM schedule, execute modifications and repairs as assigned.
  • Communicate daily status of current projects to supervisor to ensure all projects are timely and within CCI standards.
  • Ensure all equipment is always ready to dispatch and safe to use.
  • Maintain 100% “Safety Standards and Accountability” in all areas or mandatory/regulatory requirements, which include:
    • Compliance with required HSE training.
    • Taking necessary action when behaviors or conditions around you may be unsafe.
    • Reporting and addressing all potential safety concerns/incidents/issues promptly.
    • Facilitating or participating in CCI safety meetings, work safely and maintain a safe work environment as an employee and representative of CCI.
    • Willingly participate and assist in any investigation that may relate to a safety incident.
    • Document and record any injury or near miss incident that may occur while you are working.
    • Maintain and demonstrate proficient working knowledge of all response-related equipment, policies, procedures, and tactics always.
    • Maintain a safe, efficient, and organized work area.
    • Partner with coworkers to learn new skills and share knowledge.
    • Manage inventory of critical parts and supplies.
    • Welding and metal fabrication as needed.
    • Attend and participate in required meetings, training, and exercises.
    • Self-directed with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of static and rotating mechanical equipment.
  • Ability to follow directions in detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams, schematics, and procedures.
  • Ability to work well with others in an environment that includes harsh weather conditions, remote locations, and diversified personalities.
  • Skilled in interpersonal communication with the ability to work closely in a small shop environment.
  • Intermediate computer skills, including the ability to take online training, email general reports and use Microsoft Office Software.
  • Ability to clearly speak, write, read, and understand the English language.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous welding experience is preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED is preferred.
  • Welding Certifications Preferred.
  • Experience with pumps, heaters, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, electrical systems, and rotating equipment is preferred.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee constantly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; outside weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.

  • Position may be exposed to weather conditions at times while working outdoors.
  • Position may be working with potentially hazardous materials and wastes.
  • Dress code is professional commensurate with Plant environments where applicable.
  • Hard-toe safety footwear is always required while working.
  • Frequent walking and standing, occasional keyboard use, sitting, bending, twisting, and reaching.
