The Molasses Flood is looking for a Financial Controller to help move the studio into the next phase of growth and success. The person in this role will collaborate with both internal studio management, as well as external accountants and financial advisory teams, to maintain studio bookkeeping and accounts that are accurate and reliable, utilizing systems that will scale as we grow. We’re entering an exciting new chapter in our development, and would love for you to help shape the way we grow!
This is a full-time salaried position at our office in the greater Boston area. Relocation assistance is available.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Plan, direct, and coordinate all accounting operational functions (AP / AR / Treasury)
- Reconcile financial activity with monthly bank statements
- Ownership of the monthly and yearly account closing and reporting processes and audits
- Ensure the timely and accurate payroll processing
- Assist with the preparation and review of U.S. federal and state tax compliance, including
- coordination with outside service providers
- Scale the accounting and reporting functions to accommodate the projected company growth
- Prepare budgeting and financial tracking, in order to support and advise the studio owners in business analyses
- Model financial scenarios and communicate financial data to the leadership team
- Work directly with the key stakeholders to shape the direction of the company
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting / Finance or equivalent practical experience
- 3 years of work experience in public accounting and/or tech organization finance
- High proficiency in MS Excel
- Experience working with QuickBooks
- Self-starter attitude, ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and work independently
- Solid working knowledge of US GAAP
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to analyze and solve problems quickly and creatively with attention to detail
- Candidates must have US work authorization or citizenship status
