CDE Lightband, the municipal electric and broadband power provider for the City of Clarksville, offers electric, television, internet and phone service to customers within the city limits. CDE Lightband serves over 80,000 metered homes and businesses with electric service and over 29,000 customers with broadband services over our Fiber to the Premise Network.
We are looking for a candidate to join our Safety Team as a Safety & Security Coordinator. The ideal candidate would have experience and be skilled in conflict management, have strong communication skills, and able to act quickly and concisely in conditions that affect employee and customer safety. This candidate must be able to work in both indoor and outdoor settings as listed in the working conditions, and be able to satisfy other stated standards for the position.

Job Summary
Incumbents provide security monitoring, system evaluation, hardware distribution and safety compliance support. Responsibilities may include overseeing security procedures and systems, evaluating & installing monitoring hardware and software for full security support, processing and distributing security access badges, as well as reviewing monitors running standard reports; providing routine customer service; entering data; sorting and delivering documents; and operating standard office equipment; monitoring public and private areas; ensuring compliance with safety rules and regulations in accordance with CDE Lightband policy and practice, as well as all APPA and OSHA laws and regulations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Oversees CDE Lightband Security system for all office and substation locations, working with team of the Safety Attendants, Safety Manager and others as needed. Monitors and maintains all hardware and software for full security support; processing and distributing all security access badges; reviewing all security monitors and physically and visibly ensuring safety and security of the location is in check; to include lobby area and parking lots, as well as employee only areas, including behind secured utility fencing parking and secured access.
- Provide the source of Communication to all workforce, onsite customers and vendors during any certain or perceived threat of emergency.
- Directly supports Safety Manager and working with Safety Attendants for off-hour security needs; capacity and crowd management within the lobby or other customer supporting or public areas; overall routine needs for a safe and secure customer experience.
- Working with the Safety Director, ensures compliance with all CDE Lightband Safety rules and regulations, as well as all APPA and OSHA regulations.
- Direct and assist others during emergencies and/or other potentially confrontational situations. Must maintain composure during stressful or potentially agitated times, reliable, predictable and dependable work product, and fair and just treatment of all customers and employees.
- Prepares, reviews, and/or processes a variety of routine correspondence, logs, information, paperwork; keys information into applicable spreadsheets and/or databases; as well as files documents by prescribed methods in established filing systems.
- Performs other duties as assigned of a similar nature or to provide assistance as needed
Qualifications
Education: |
High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) |
Experience: |
1-2 years' experience in Military, Law Enforcement or Security highly preferred; as well as previous experience with security system installation & monitoring highly preferred |
Certifications & Licenses: |
CPR/AED or ability to obtain upon hire |
Other Requirements: |
Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job also considered |

- Knowledge of Electric utility operating methods
- Knowledgeable of and skilled in applying APPA Safety Manual, PPE and required training regulations, as well as standards regarding any equipment or procedures used by any department within CDE Lightband.

- Knowledgeable of organizational, communication and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions
- Requires constant indoor and outdoor work with potential for extreme outdoor temperatures
