What are the responsibilities and job description for the Sr Tax Accountant position at CDW?
The Direct Tax team participates in all facets of the income tax function, including analytical and technical support, as well as managing the tax aspects of various business initiatives.
The Senior Tax Accountant will participate in all facets of the income tax function, including tax compliance, financial reporting and audit support, and will play a critical role by providing analytical and technical support to the Income Tax Managers. The Senior Tax Accountant will also be responsible for developing relationships with coworkers outside of the Tax Department to keep abreast of changes to our business.
Key Areas of Responsibility
- Identify and implement process improvements to existing processes.
- Perform other ad-hoc duties as required by the needs of the Income Tax department.
- Other Responsibilities
- Prepare and review the quarterly and annual tax provision calculations.
- Prepare and review Federal and State income tax returns, including extensions and estimated tax payments.
- Prepare cash tax projections.
- Prepare responses to information requests from Federal, State and local taxing authorities.
- Research tax issues as required and make recommendations to management.
- Prepare and review supporting work papers for the quarterly and annual tax provisions, including book-tax differences and tax footnote disclosures.
- Prepare ASC 740 (FIN 48) documentation.
- Prepare and review Federal income tax return book-tax difference workpapers. Maintain organized and comprehensive tax files and documentation.
- Prepare and review applicable Federal income tax return forms, statements and elections.
- Review and analyze tax depreciation reports and reconciliations.
- Review Federal and state legislation updates to stay current with Federal and state tax laws.
- Analyze state apportionment reports and research material changes.
- Assist with Federal, State and local income tax examinations.
- Prepare state credit calculations.
- Assist with US international compliance on an as-needed basis, including foreign bank account reporting, Forms 1042, and other US international compliance such as Forms 5471, etc.
- Adhere to internal controls and coordinate documentation evidencing internal controls have been followed.
- Train, mentor, coach and manage junior tax coworkers and foster a culture of accountability.
Education and/or Experience Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- 3 years of relevant tax experience

Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
- Working knowledge of the accounting for income tax rules under ASC 740 and US GAAP accounting.
- Experience with OneSource Tax Provision, OneSource Income Tax, and OneSource State Apportionment applications.
- Focus on process improvements using technology. Experience with Alteryx is a plus.
- Public accounting experience and/or corporate tax department.
