Route Coordinator
Reports to: Transportation and Fleet Manager
Location: Cedar Lake-Residences
Status: Non-Exempt$19.00 per hour and up (based on education and experience)

The Route Coordinator is responsible for overseeing driver schedules, coordinating route plans, and compliance for all levels of regulatory and contractual standards as they relate to drivers and to day-to-day non-emergency medical transportation. The Route Coordinator is also responsible for overall supervision of CLR transportation drivers.
Essential Functions
1. Effectively, efficiently, and independently coordinate and manage the transportation services provided by Cedar Lake Residences to eligible individuals.
2. Develop and maintain a relationship with the state transportation broker, currently FTSB.
3. Ensure that all relevant laws, regulations, and policies are enforced.
4. Responsible for driver training and ensuring all necessary background and orientation paperwork is maintained and submitted in a timely manner.
5. Supervise the Transportation Drivers and establish and monitor productivity standards for those drivers. In addition, review and approve driver time records within Kronos.
6. Provide relief back up to drivers for call offs, vacations or other instances of vacant driver slots.
7. Regularly meet and communicate with Cedar Lake Residence staff to ensure participants’ transportation needs are met. Attend, participate, and effectively communicate with outside groups, including the transportation broker.
8. Ensure proper logging and billing of all trips so that reimbursement is maximized.
9. Manage, maintain and ensure all records related to those we provide service to is complete, accurate, and remains confidential.
10. Must have and maintain a driving record acceptable to insurance requirements.
11. Monitors and oversees the vehicle global positioning system monitoring program, works in coordination with the automobile insurance carrier and educates staff accordingly.
12. Engage and manage outside contractors, vendors, and customers professionally.
13. Works closely with the Transportation and Fleet Manager to develop a departmental budget, identify routing/staffing/scheduling efficiencies, and maximize profitability so that the Transportation Department may continue to grow and provide a high standard of service to the individuals we support.
14. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: Qualified candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED. An appropriately degreed credential is preferred, but relevant experience may substitute for a degree.

Experience:
- Two years of transportation experience, including trip assignment and routing trips, preferred.
- Knowledge of Medicaid guidelines along with FTSB regulations and covered services related to non-emergency transportation services preferred.
- One year of supervisory experience.
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual disabilities is preferred.
Work Schedule:
Full-time schedule, 40 hours per week. Flexible schedule required.
May include occasional additional hours and weekend hours as necessary.
May require travel to transportation pickup and delivery sites.
Working Conditions:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee is required to:
- frequently handling/fingering, standing, walking, sitting, reaching outward
- frequent vehicle driving as required
- assistance with ambulatory and non-ambulatory persons
- occasionally push/pull up to 250 pounds
- occasionally reach over the shoulder, squat or kneel, bend and climb;
- (with or without assisting devices or with assistance from others) frequently lift/carry 10 lbs or less, occasionally up to 40 pounds;
- Periodic need to lift and store wheelchairs/walkers
- Other physical abilities required are near, close, distant, and peripheral vision (corrected) with depth perception and color recognition; a good sense of hearing, smell, touch, and the ability to wear personal protective equipment,
Normal working conditions would be in an office environment or exposure to outdoor weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position directly supervises the following staff positions: Transportation Drivers.
The supervisory responsibilities include directing employee(s)’s day-to-day tasks/responsibilities and changes in job status such as hiring/promoting, evaluating performance, recommending wage changes, administering corrective action up to and including termination of employment.
