This lab focuses on cancer research that can translate into early-phase clinical trials or biomarkers to impact patients. Integrating cutting edge single-cell technologies and various study models (e.g., patient-derived xenografts, syngeneic murine models, GEMM) to address key research questions spanning: i) cell death-induced non-classical mechanisms of therapeutic resistance, ii) primary tumor and metastatic niche, and iii) emerging immunologic concepts that impact tumor progression and immune checkpoint response. Interested applicants will be self-motivated individuals with a minimum of 1-year laboratory research experience or summer research internship. This position will include two years of funding for performing project-based research in preparation for PhD or MD programs. We have successfully trained candidates that are enrolled into top graduate or medical school programs in the country. Responsibilities Orders laboratory supplies and supports laboratory operations. Maintains lab equipment, related records and may coordinate use of lab equipment. Performs a variety of increasingly complex experimental protocols and procedures and assist in the design of new complex or unusual protocols and techniques—with the long-term goal to collect data for project-based research Keeps accurate and detailed records of experiments and results and assist in identifying and troubleshooting of unexpected results. Demonstrates experience in tissue culture (i.e. maintaining cell lines, using aseptic techniques, count and split cells), molecular biology techniques (i.e. DNA/RNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, western blot) and animal handling and care. Must be comfortable in working with research animals (i.e. mice).
