We are seeking a passionate and experienced Design Director to join our client's dynamic Sports Brand team in New York City!
As a Design Director, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing visual storytelling, art, and design, bringing the client's sports brand to life across various mediums, including AV, digital, social assets, OOH billboards, sizzles, hype reels, and merch. This role is perfect for someone who thrives at the intersection of sports and culture, and understands how sports can emotionally and personally connect with audiences.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee and lead visual storytelling and design for the Sports Brand team, ensuring all creative work is on-brief, on-brand, and delivered on time.
- Partner with the Creative Director and copywriter to develop and execute the client's sports brand positioning and strategy.
- Lead the design direction of comprehensive, sports-centric campaigns aimed at driving customer acquisition, engagement, and retention across all channels.
- Collaborate closely with internal Brand marketing, Sports Marketing, Creative, and Design teams to maximize the impact of marketing opportunities through standout creative work.
- Work with top-tier external partners to create impactful, compelling, and widely discussed sports collaborations and activations, engaging new audiences and unlocking new channels.
Qualifications:
- Experience level: Manager
- Education: Bachelors
- 10 years of experience in designing for in-house teams or studio/agency partners, with a deep design background and a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in concept and entertainment design, typography, layout, form, motion design, and composition.
- Proven track record of designing breakthrough 360 campaigns across all platforms, particularly for challenger brands in crowded marketplaces.
- Direct experience in building relationships and collaborating with cross-functional partners (media, marketing, creative ops), internal creatives (CDs, writers, producers), and external agency partners.
- Expert-level knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite, high proficiency in After Effects, video motion graphics and compositing, and 3D skills in Cinema 4D.
- Proficient in compositing FX (green screen, keying, tracking, rotoscoping), with knowledge of video editing and production equipment (including cinema cameras and still photography). HTML and CSS proficiency is a plus.
