Job Summary
The assistant manager will be responsible for all aspects of the cement terminal operations including: Management of all aspects of cement reception and delivery. Rail, truck and/or barge reception and rail loading where applicable as well as truck reception when and where applicable.
Job Responsibilities
- Assistant manager will be responsible for implementing and overseeing CEMEX Health and Safety management systems and processes
- Operate terminals in compliance with all state & federal safety and environmental standards
- Manage costs as well as manage inventories to avoid stock outs and or demurrage
- Plan, develop and implement strategies to maximize production and reduce costs
- In conjunction with the terminal manager, develop and manage a terminal budget
- Responsible for process improvements, and staffing of plant to ensure operational efficiency
- Foster teamwork, open communication and cooperation across functional boundaries
- Adhere to all CEMEX and OSHA rules and regulations at all times and wear proper safety equipment while on plant grounds
- Meet or exceed company safety standards
- Perform other job responsibilities as assigned by management
Qualifications
- 5 years of cement terminal experience highly preferred
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Experience with handling and interpreting CBA’s
- Previous experience supervising front-line employees

- Must be a self-starter, and a problem solver

Working Conditions
- Capability to work extended hours as necessary
- Ability to work with standard office/computer equipment
- Capable of working in an open office environment
- Ability to participate in required overnight travel as necessary
Physical Requirements
- Requires walking, sitting, lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing to a significant degree
- Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a negligible amount of force frequently
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, in order to communicate to employees/visitors as well as function safely around heavy rolling equipment
- Must be able to perform all job functions which include, but may not be limited to, pushing, turning, and/or pulling of controls
