Worker Type: Employee Group: Refining & Marketing Accounting Department Job Post End Date: 11/24/2023 About this opportunity: Reporting to the Lima Refining Co LLC (LRC) Finance Manager, you will have a lead role in ensuring the accuracy and completeness of the procure-to-pay and Track processes in accordance with Cenovus and LRC Financial Leadership directives, policies, and procedures. A solid understanding of the refinery revenue and cost cycles is required in addition to understanding the expenses and capitalized costs incurred to cost centers and AFEs. Ensuring standardized processes and reporting alignment for actual results along with the timely communication to the BU is paramount. Specifically, you will have a lead role in assuring accounting and process controls are in place and operating effectively with respect to procure-to-pay, financial and management reporting, account reconciliations, and other special projects. Effectively contribute to business unit initiatives, and function as a focal point to the leadership team and functional areas managers / cost center owners on ensuring the accuracy of financial reporting. Responsibilities: Supervise end-to-end AP and Track processes for the Lima Refinery Approve service entries posted to blanket PO’s. Ensure monthly accounting results are accurate and up to date including accruals for un-processed items. Maintain SAP data for financial authority, chart of accounts, cost centers, etc. Submit forms and update reference sheets as necessary. A key contributor for procure-to-pay modernization and establishment of roles and responsibilities. Liaise with refinery staff and head office support to ensure procure to pay process is delivering world class results. Liaise with other refineries Track groups to push forward continuous improvements in performance and governance. Complete and/or approve balance sheet account reconciliations. Ensure compliance to all internal controls, policies, and procedures. Develop and recommend performance actions/interventions with Refinery and senior Cenovus leadership, which provide an understanding of underlying business performance trends and drivers, such that appropriate interventions can be identified and enacted. Contribute to driving performance management processes that incorporate performance reporting, analysis, and competitive benchmarking. Ad-hoc cost analysis to provide insights into sustainable cost reduction opportunities. Conduct analytical deep dives on specific performance issues, as needed. Take lead role with improved reporting on key items including but not limited to Open P.O. commitments, AFE status reporting, etc. Provide finance and accounting services (including accruals, allocations, inter-company transactions, preparation and analysis of business unit financial statements etc.) Act as a focal point under direction from the SRC Finance Manager for corporate initiatives and process improvements projects and coordinating activities as appropriate. Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree. 5 years of financial analysis experience; Finance background. Strong analytical, financial control, reporting skills; Able to interpret and communicate financial information with clarity. Advanced Excel skills. Preferred Qualifications: A degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or Engineering. 3 years of Refinery experience or similar. Demonstrate awareness of Solomon survey, refinery benchmarking and operational performance indicators. Ability to provide guidance in all financial areas including reporting and planning. Ability to interact with all levels of management in a professional manner. Good understanding of how Finance processes and systems operate.
