Job Description

This position is remote, however, candidates for this position are preferred to reside within the DC Metro area (DC/Maryland/Virginia) or be willing to relocate to the DC Metro area prior to starting the role

POSITION SUMMARY

The Test Development Assistant provides support for language assessment development tasks and is responsible for carrying out project activities as assigned, contributing to the completion of project tasks and deliverables.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Coordinate and support planning of test development activities.
  • Communicate with external consultants and reviewers.
  • Conduct data entry and database maintenance tasks.
  • Conduct fact-checking of language assessment materials and document sources.
  • Assist with item review procedures and processes, including maintaining required documentation.
  • Assist with proofing, copy-editing, key checks, and other quality control procedures.
  • Assist with creating and updating item specifications, test maps, test blueprints, and test forms.
  • Assist with creating and proofing rater training and scoring materials.
  • Assist with coordinating and facilitating audio recording sessions.
  • Assist with writing and editing test development reports.
  • Assist with research projects related to language test development.
  • Assist with in-person and virtual test development meetings.
  • Communicate and collaborate within and across teams throughout the test development process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a related field (e.g., linguistics, communications, education)
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a relevant field.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to consistently meet deadlines.
  • Excellent oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills in English.
  • Strong organization and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as cooperatively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.
  • Experience or formal coursework in language learning/teaching, test development, or project coordination is preferred

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires occasional travel (1-2 times per year)

COMPENSATION

Minimum Salary: $46,653 Annually

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to effectively communicate. The employee may be required to sit or stand in a stationary position 50% of the time. This position constantly operates a computer and other office productivity equipment. The employee must be able to observe details at close range, including color on a computer screen. CAL adheres to ADA compliance and guidelines as a common practice.
