What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Camp Director position at Center of Hope Foundation?
Center of Hope Foundation is seeking to hire one qualified individual to become the Director for Camp Hope.
This position is seasonal and will run from approximately,
Mid-June to the end of August 2024.
Any qualified individual will be 21years old or older.
Job Summary
The Camp Director is responsible for developing, facilitating, and overseeing the Agency’s Summer Camp including the supervision, guidance, and direction of camp staff and campers.
Depending upon needs of the day, the Camp Director may be in stationary position throughout the day or moving to provide care to campers, including bending, kneeling and standing positions.
Environment
Camp is held primarily outside, with inside space available for inclement weather. Time will also be spent in water spaces, including pools and lakes. Outside terrain may include sand, dirt and uneven terrain. Temperatures and weather conditions will vary. Inside space may not include air conditioning.
Campers may engage in behaviors that are harmful to themselves or others; staff are provided with the resources and training to deescalate these situations safely and effectively.
Essential Functions:
Supervise daily check-in and check-out of all Campers.
Supervise and direct all staff and volunteers assigned to work with the camp to lead group activities.
Work directly with campers and provide role modeling and direction to for Camp Staff
Create Daily schedules for campers and staff.
Maintain camp records on site.
Practice and enforce all camp safety regulations and emergency procedures.
Maintain overall responsibility for health and well-being of staff and campers.
Maintain daily/weekly communication with parents, as needed by family and answer any concerns or questions they may have and communicate any relevant concerns such as, but not limited to, sick or injured, campers.
Communicate any concerns regarding a camper’s behavior to appropriate supervisor and to the individual's family.
Communicate with supervisor for challenges or special camper requests as needed.
Consult with supervisor for any equipment orders, needs, or repairs to maintain camp safety.
Maintain an inventory list and procure needed supplies with Supervisor’s approval.
Maintain and clean the program equipment spaces.
Assign all cleaning duties to staff.
The qualification listed below must support the essential functions and serve as the primary criteria for selecting candidates.
Minimum Qualifications
-21 years of age or older
-Successful completion of a course in camping administration such as those offered by national professional camping associations, national agencies or their equivalent, or at least two seasons of previous experience working as part of an administrative staff of a recreational camp for children
-Valid Driver’s license
-Ability to meet regulatory requirements in all background checks (CORI, fingerprinting, SORI)
Minimum Competencies
The ability to effectively time-manage and organize priorities is essential. Must be computer literate and have good written and verbal communication skills.
Ensure that communication with Supervisor is maintained and all relevant issues relayed in a timely manner.
Abide by all camp policies and procedures.
Assist with any crisis management situations that may occur.
Responsible for additional duties as assigned to follow the mission of the Center of Hope Foundation
Effectivley manage all Camp staff and maintain positive relationships with Campers and families
To adhere to all Agency policies

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
