This position requires a thorough understanding of nationwide tax regulations to ensure accurate taxability for both customers and vendors. The Senior Sales Tax Analyst will be expected to maintain a high level of integrity and ethics and must be able to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities
What You Will Do
- Efficiently, timely, and accurately prepare sales and use tax returns, including processing of payments and filing.
- Maintain compliance with all sales tax at the federal, state, and local level.
- Implement new tax statutes, regulations, and rules to assure conformity with authorities.
- Actively drive tax planning and sales tax audits.
- Identify tax efficiencies and potential credits.
- Consolidate information and file personal property tax fillings.
- Takes ownership of Avalara settings, tax information, and reporting.
- Works with business leaders to determine taxability of contracts in different jurisdictions.
- Reviews Avalara tax coding for services and products and updates as needed.
- Prepares accounting reconciliations for sales and use tax GL accounts.
- Prepares required accrual journal entries to ensure US GAAP compliance.
- Ensure that all financial reporting complies with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Provides insightful information for GL variance analysis as it pertains to sales tax GL accounts.
- Support annual financial statement audits.
- Assist with ad-hoc reporting requests and other projects as requested by management.
What You Will Need
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.
- 3 – 5 years sales and use tax and personal property tax experience.
- Experience with sales tax audits.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to put in place standard operating procedures, particularly around close.
- Ability to drive process excellence and continuous improvement in collaboration with business leaders.
- Candidates with public accounting experience are preferred, but not required.
- Certified Public Accountants (CPA) are preferred, but not required.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required, specifically Advanced Excel.
- Ability to analyze large transactional data sets (i.e., pivot tables, v-lookup).
- Experience with Avalara and Sage Intacct is preferred, but not required.
