Job Description:
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
The TLP Life Skills Advisor is responsible developing and providing life skills training to TLP residents in job preparedness and vocational skills. The Life Skills advisor assists TLP advisors in providing supervision and interaction with residents, daily facility maintenance and cleaning, ensuring the safety of residents and the facility, and provide life skills training by modeling and teaching person centered, recovery oriented culturally competent basic life skills to young adult residents to include promoting positive educational, employment and leisure activities; promoting positive communication among residents and staff; developing appropriate leisure activities, Instruction, demonstration and modeling of cooking, food preparation, storage, sanitation, budgeting, money management, housekeeping, hygiene skills etc., and maintaining a safe and supportive living environment conducive to recovery for young adult residents. The primary focus of life skill development is in teaching vocational life skills. TLP Life Skills Advisor is also responsible for providing positive internal and external customer service skills and honoring high the standard of Professional Practice that is set for Centerstone employees.
MINIMUM CREDENTIALS/REQUIREMENTS
Requires Bachelors degree in human services (Social Work, Juvenile Justice, etc.) or related field with some specific course work (e.g., psychology, education, social work, rehabilitation, sociology, special education, therapeutic recreation) required. Position requires valid driver’s license and experience working with the public or a demonstrated interest to work with different population.
