Part-Time | 32 hours per two weeks | 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.
JOB SUMMARY:
The principal duties and responsibilities are to plan, direct and coordinate the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program. Will oversee and evaluate student functioning, certify student training to the accrediting bodies of the Association of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE) and/or the National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC), and affiliated theological seminaries and schools of theology, and provide students with timely performance evaluations and/or grades.
As a certified Clinical Pastoral Educator, the incumbent will be involved in regional/national NACC and/or ACPE activities, ensuring the good standing of the CPE Center with the accrediting organization. In collaboration with other chaplains, recruit, screen, and train participants in compliance with the St. Cloud Hospital (SCH) policies/procedures, the standards of ACPE and/or NACC, and the regulations of area seminaries and schools of theology. Schedule training dates and publish course prerequisites and requirements.
Provides the necessary education and training for CPE students as well as religious services, instruction, and pastoral care for inpatients and outpatients served by St. Cloud Hospital. Perform spiritual care assessments and interventions with patients in a variety of healthcare settings such as in primary and acute care and specialized clinics, hospice, chemical dependency rehabilitation program, trauma, etc. Supports and implements patient safety and other safety practices as appropriate. Supports and demonstrates Family Centered Care principles when interacting with patients and their families and with co-workers.
EDUCATION:
- Master's Degree Divinity or
- Master's Degree Psychology. and
- Continuing education to update professional skills and knowledge by participation in training programs, seminars, and workshops.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Certified as a Supervisor of CPE, or as an Associate Supervisor of CPE by either the Association for Clinical Pastoral Education, or the National Association of Catholic Chaplains.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3 years Experience as a CPE Supervisor preferred.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:
- This extended knowledge includes a working knowledge of behavioral sciences in particular psychiatric and clinical terminology; a good understanding of the theories, practices, and problems of other hospital disciplines; a good understanding of the principles of personality development, treatment of mental and emotional disturbances, behavior patterns, motivation; understanding of group processes; and a thorough knowledge of and expert skill in applying pertinent counseling methods and techniques.
