What are the responsibilities and job description for the CONSTRUCTION LABORER position at Central Civil Construction?
Central Civil is looking for a full time Laborer to assist in civil construction, earthwork & Pipelayed projects while adhering to all current safety standards.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Earthwork Laborer:
- Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA, State regulations, and all safety policies and procedures;
- Take initiative in setting up and cleaning up work site, ensuring all tools and equipment are cleaned and properly stored
- Signal operators of construction equipment to facilitate alignment
- Carry lumber, pipe, tools and other types of construction materials
- Dig holes and trenches with hand tools
- Level dirt or materials to grade as specification requires
- Assist with building of various structures and forms
- Assist with erecting and removing shoring of trenches
- Sweep and clean jobsite, yard, vehicles, equipment, or building
- Assist in the placement, moving and dismantling of signs, barricades, cones
- Measure and cut materials as required
PIPE Laborer:
The ideal candidate will work with grading and utility crews installing underground utilities such as water, sewer, and storm drain. Also need laborers to work with the grading crews operating rollers, checking grade, and erosion work. Benefits are available after 90 days. Under the direction of the foreman, the Laborer will conduct all the daily routine activities associated with pipe installation in a safe and efficient manner.
Responsibilities:
- Locates and prepares manholes
- Excavates by hand and possibly with excavator
- Assist in initial setup and cleanup of job sites which would include lifting, carrying, and pulling items 50 lbs in weight.
- Enter manhole/confined space to cut line for installation.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Incumbent must possess and demonstrate proficiency in the above responsibilities.
- Must demonstrate good communications and interaction skills.
- Must be accurate, detailed, reliable and able to follow orders on projects and tasks with minimal supervision.
- Must have ability to be proactive and trouble shoot.
- Construction Experience preferred but not required.
- Pipeline renewal experience preferred but not required.
