Description
In this position, the team member will be expected to:
- Increase grain origination from new and existing customers for both direct delivery and physical bushels into CFS assets.
- Advise and assist member producers with grain marketing strategies to produce increased profits for both the members and the cooperative through the Grain Price Protection Service (GPPS) program and products.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

- Originate grain from producer members and prospects for physical delivery to CFS facilities and direct delivery to end users and others.
- Enroll, educate and assist producer members in the Grain Price Protection Service, utilizing the GPPS software to track and reconcile customer and company accounts.
- Position and sell grain marketing alternatives including exchange traded futures and options as well as other fee generating alternatives in the CFS portfolio.
- Conduct farm calls, producer meetings and customer contacts by phone.
- Collaborate closely with merchandising, operations, accounting, transportation, other job functions and divisions to ensure company resources and profitability are maximized.
- Hold yourself accountable to expected levels of customer service, ensure customer issues and complaints are promptly addressed and elevated to management if not solved locally.
- Adhere to all company policies and processes, including but not limited to contract signature follow up, limits on contracting alternatives and other internal and external laws and rules.
- Know and follow all company safety policies/procedures. Be a champion of farm safety whenever possible.
- Represent yourself and CFS professionally at all times in action and appearance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor and company leadership including assisting in grain elevator operations and administrative activities as needed.
Requirements
- Post high school education (vocational or college level degree)
- 3-5 years of grain marketing or other ag related experience (preferred)
- Previous sales experience (preferred)
- Strong communication, analytical and organization skills
- Demonstrated self-starter with high level of personal accountability
- Ability to work with computers, computer software and grain accounting systems
- Series 3 & 30 brokerage licenses desired but not required
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
