Human Resources Generalist (Facilities) - Job Description
The HR Generalist will act as the primary liaison and person responsible for the following areas:
MEASURES OF SUCCESS
Employee recruiting, hiring, and retention
- Lead full life-cycle recruitment for hourly and salaried roles for a group of farms/facilities. Proactively identify talent gaps, needs, and provide creative recruiting solutions
- Administration of the requisition/approval process and partnering with the HR Coordinator regarding all advertising needs for area
- Be a leader in the Talent Planning initiatives within their area and work in partnership with the Director of Human Resources and facility General Managers to plan for human capital needs
- Conduct stay and exit interviews and act as a conduit in the approval process for personnel actions/changes (PAF)
Acting as the HR leader to interpret human resources policy and procedures
- Efficient response to “Human Resources” queries from facility managers
- Leading the Progressive Coaching process throughout their respective regions – ensuring due process for all employees
- Conduct work-place investigations in partnership with facility managers
- Assist with establishing, implementing, and documenting policies and procedure
- Demonstrate leadership and guidance across multiple sites by coaching, counseling and problem solving with operational leaders and front-line managers
Training and Development
- Lead the on-boarding process and new-hire orientations. Ensure all new hire paperwork is completed accurately, timely, and that the HRIS system is updated
- Participates in the analysis, design, development and facilitation of training efforts throughout the company including management development training
- Supporting technical training in the areas of IT rollouts, HRIS program areas and other software initiatives or changes that would affect their respective area
- Organization of training materials/manuals for key employee groups and training
- Assess training needs in each of their districts
Promoting the wellbeing and safety of our employees, customers and vendors
- Facilitating the accident/incident process for the company – including training for facility management
- Manage the workers’ compensation process for multiple facilities
- Promote a positive work environment and increase employee engagement
Additional responsibilities of the Human Resources Generalist (Facilities):
- Lead the employee survey initiatives company-wide
- Partnering with the Director of Human Resources for the development, planning and implementation of all Learning & Development initiatives for the company
- Leading the Change Management/Process Improvement area for all Paycom (HRIS) initiatives by monitoring Paycom system updates and communicating updates to the respective employees/areas
- Conduct training on PMP, Paycom and compliance
- Work in conjunction with the Benefit Manager to coordinate benefit administration
- Demonstrate leadership and guidance across multiple sites by coaching, counseling and problem solving with operational leaders and front-line managers
- Administration and on-going maintenance of the HRIS system on a company-wide basis
- Efficient response to “Human Resources” queries from farm/facility managers
- Conduct work-place investigations in partnership with other HR Generalists
- Organize and coordinate employee recognition events on a regional basis
- Management of the workers’ compensation process for region and respective Generalist areas
- Interacting with employees at all levels within a area of farms and facilities (distribution and greenhouse, regional and corporate employees and managers alike)
- Driving a positive culture that creates an inspiring employee experience
- Training on the annual performance and compensation planning process within an area as well as Paycom and compliance initiatives
IDEAL CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, or related field or equivalent experience with 3-5 years’ experience in Human Resources. Green industry, merchandising or distribution industry a plus with SHRM or HRCI certification preferred.
- Bi-lingual, Spanish, a plus.
- Systems knowledge and ability to learn new technology. Specific proficiency in HRIS systems, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint required. Experience with analyzing data to determine value of various programs and make recommendations based on data results.
- Experience creating and maintaining critical Human Resources administrative functions.
- Ability to interact with employees at all levels (distribution, greenhouse, regional, corporate employees and managers) and maintain a professional image at all times.
- Possess a high level of professionalism, with the ability to perform under deadlines and multi-task. Ability to remain calm and professional when involved in stressful situations.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills with the ability to drive a positive culture that creates an inspiring employee experience.
- Demonstrated attention to detail, organizational and analytical skills with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work with confidential data.
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Distribution centers, greenhouses and office environment requiring the ability to sit, stand and walk as needed to interact with employees and managers.
- Required travel within respective area between 25 to 50% each week with some overnight travel. Periodic travel to the company’s Maryland offices for meetings/events.
