What are the responsibilities and job description for the Clinical Risk Manager (Hybrid) position at Central Health?
The Clinical Risk Manager is responsible for overseeing patient safety, environment of care and clinical risk management programs to ensure that patients receive the highest quality of care from programs operating by the organization.
Specifically, this position will guide site leadership in the development of site-based safety programs that adhere to environment of care and OSHA standards that support the organization’s accreditation status.
Essential Duties
Primary Accountabilities:
• Review and analyze reports of adverse events, near misses and concerns related to clinical risk and collaborate with various departments and site leadership to develop responsive programs that improve and maintain patient safety.
• Conduct Root Cause Analysis (RCAs) on sentinel events, at the discretion of the CMO or CRO, and serious patient safety events.
• Support the Director of Compliance in executing and implementing the annual compliance and risk work plan.
• Develop and maintain policies and provide education in connection with implementation and revision thereof.
• Conduct internal audits in areas identified as high risk to assess quality of controls in place.
• Prepare written reports of investigations and audits in a timely and prioritized manner to the appropriate individuals.
• Serve as organization’s Safety Officer and guide site teams on the development and maintenance of their environment of care and safety programs.
• Assist Director of Compliance in coordinating the activities of the Safety Committee.
• Facilitate a hazardous vulnerability assessment and emergency management exercises for the organization on an annual basis.
• Strong written and verbal presentation skills with attention to sensitive, confidential matters.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build effective collaborative relationships.
• Ability to lead, train and facilitate cross‐disciplinary teams.
• Possess the ability to think critically, problem solve, make independent decisions, and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Competent with data management and analysis.
• Knowledgeable of TJC, CMS, TDSHS, OSHA, HRSA and other applicable state and federal regulatory requirements governing federally qualified health care centers and ambulatory care.

MINIMUM EDUCATION: Nursing degree from an accredited school of nursing
PREFERRED EDUCATION: Bachelor of Science in Nursing
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 5 years clinical experience and 3 years healthcare risk management experience
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Risk management, quality improvement, or legal nurse consulting experience
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Current RN license to practice nursing in the state of Texas
PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Risk Management (CPHRM) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality (CPQH)
