Job Description

Boston Public Schools Office of Food and Nutrition Services seeks a qualified Assistant Cafeteria Manager who will be responsible for assisting the manager in maintaining efficient management of school’s food service operation encouraging increased student participation, and adhering to regulations of Child Nutrition Programs, as well as local health regulation.

REPORTS TO: CAFETERIA MANAGER

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Assumes responsibility for operation of school’s food operation in the absence of the manager.
2. Participates in food preparation, food services, public relations, and clean-up operations.
3. Prepares forms for cash receipts.
4. Assists manager with preparation of bank deposit and end of the month reports.
5. Supervises the storage and use of leftover food; plans with manager the future use of leftovers.
6. Assists manager in supervising cafeteria attendants. 
7. Reports to work as scheduled and sign the posted time sheet.
8. Performs other duties as assigned by the cafeteria manager.

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED:

• High school diploma or GED required
• Must be Food Safety certified (ServSafe)
• Passing grade on Manager’s Proficiency Exam (administered by FNS)
• Current authorization to work in the United States - Candidates must have such authorization by their first day of employment
