General Function

This position works as part of a team to implement simulation-based education designed to enhance student learning, quality in healthcare, and patient safety. The main focus of a Simulation Support Specialist is to facilitate simulation education for a number of health programs. This includes piloting and editing scenarios, coordinating and working with faculty to ensure best practice, and leading scenario-based sessions. The Simulation Support Specialist works collaboratively with and supports the Director, Simulation Center as well as Simulation Educators and Simulation Operations staff.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaboratively implements and edits high quality formative and summative scenarios and skills labs in order to meet student and faculty needs and accreditation standards.
  • Assists with course set-up and breakdown of supplies, manikins, task trainers, and environment as needed
  • Identify resources necessary for the successful operation of acute care, home health, and outpatient simulation educational experiences.
  • Incorporates standards and best practices to continuously update and refine simulation experiences.
  • Conduct tours of the facilities and promote the use of the interdisciplinary experience and academic learning center.
  • Supports Simulation Educators as needed
  • Assists with data collection to evaluate learning for student experiences and satisfaction with services for continuing education experiences.
  • Works collaboratively with Sim Ops for technical support and maintenance of high fidelity manikins.
  • Speaks and participates in scenarios as a standardized participant when needed.
  • Assists with simulation center and program quality improvement initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications

Associates Degree from a regionally accredited institution in a relevant health discipline.
Holds a certification in a healthcare field and Two years clinical work experience

Preferred Requirements:

  • BSN or Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution in a relevant health discipline or educational leadership or education.
  • Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator
  • Simulation experience with various simulation technology and standardized patients
  • Multidisciplinary healthcare experience highly preferred

Work Days: Monday -Friday

  • Knowledge of institution’s policies and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, analytical and organizational skills
  • Instructional design experience, excellent presentation and group facilitation skills
  • Utilizes evidences-based practice principles in course or scenarios content design
  • Strong computer skills
