Lead Learning Facilitator
Position Title: Lead Learning Facilitator
Reports To: Education Coordinator
Status: Non - Exempt
Type: Part-Time (32 hours/week)
Pay Rate: $23/hour
Summary: The PODER (Positive Outcomes Delivered through Education and Respect) Lead Learning Facilitator plans, implements, and supervises the PODER after school program at Finkl Academy to ensure a safe, organized, fun, and educational space for 5th-8thgraders.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Adhere to the mission of SER and assist site staff in embedding the vision, mission, and philosophy of PODER into the daily implementation practices at Finkl
- Supervise 2 part-time staff members and assist in the hiring process for these positions as needed
- Ensure that staff understand and comply with all PODER, SER, and school policies and procedures
- Build and maintain strong relationships between PODER and school administrators and staff, parents, students, and the surrounding community
- Create a safe and positive environment for youth to explore their identities and interests, develop socially, emotionally, and academically, and engage with their community and city
- Ensure that the PODER program at Finkl is physically and emotionally safe for all youth and employees
- Manage the site budget to ensure proper procurement and distribution of site supplies and equipment
- Create lesson plans, plan field trips, and create an effective program schedule to achieve objectives
- Accurately complete and submit reports as required
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all student and staff information
- Attend all staff meetings and trainings as required
Qualifications Required:
- Bilingual (Spanish/English)
- Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology or related field, or equivalent experience
- Alignment with program vision and purpose
- Experience with lesson planning, and developing and implementing high-quality youth programs
- Experience working with urban Latino youth
- Active listening skills, flexibility, understanding, and patience
- Sensitivity to youth's socioeconomic, cultural, and religious identities, as well as individual needs and capabilities
- Ability to create an environment in which youth feel comfortable, relaxed, and engaged
- Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with school district staff, funding sources, principals, parents, community members, public officials, and private sector officials
- Strong public speaking and group facilitation skills
- Positive and professional attitude
- Willingness to learn new skills and develop new competencies based on program needs
- Willingness to participate in team building activities, workshops, and professional developments
- Proficiency in computer applications
- Willingness to travel locally and work flexible hours including some Saturdays
- Must be willing to become a mandated reporter
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous supervisory experience
- Knowledge of positive discipline, restorative justice, and SEL (social emotional learning) practices
- Access to a vehicle and valid driver’s license
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $22.00 - $23.00 per hour
