Duties for This Position
Conducts psychological assessments to identify mental or emotional anguish. Provides counselling to those in crisis who are experiencing distress in their lives. Assists patients and their families in the hospital, clinic, and other health care setting by educating them about illnesses and treatment plans. Coordinates patients’ mental health care with the larger medical team. Provides mental health counseling to the public.
Education Requirements
High School Diploma or GED
Master’s Degree in social work (MSW)
Experience
One year experience in counseling preferred.
Required Skills
Excellent customer service skills and strong interpersonal capabilities as evidenced by an ability to motivate and inspire patients to participate in activities. Must be able to communicate effectively in writing and the spoken word.
