What are the responsibilities and job description for the WHEAP Program Case Manager position at Central WI Community Action Council, Inc.?
This will start out as a temp position and could lead to full-time.
Schedule appointments, meet and interview clients and process application to determine eligibility
Refer clients to other service providers as applicable
Schedule outreach meeting with communities to provide outreach services to targeted populations
Provide assistance with the preparation and processing of applications for the homebound
Review and update an annual outreach plan and strategy explaining how the agency will reach targeted households and submit to
Establish a central location for the distribution and receipt of applications
Allow for flexible hours to accommodate clients who cannot apply during normal business hours
Establish a 24 hour crisis plan after normal office hours
WHEAP case manager will be on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week through the heating season
Provide proactive services to assist clients and contact vendors as needed
Coordinate with state registered fuel suppliers
Responsible for advertising through newspapers, brochures, radio and meetings with other resource managers
Attend all staff and state meetings as applicable
Insure agency compliance with all requirements of federal, state and local laws, regulations and rules governing the program
Identify the program as being administered by the state of WI Home Energy Assistance programs in all program materials
Perform other duties as assigned
Requires an ability to communicate well with all kinds of people, and in stressful, busy and demanding situations
Must be highly organized accurate and very efficient
Must be able to prioritize workload, use good judgment, and make difficult decisions under pressure
Must have an understanding of the needs of low-income people, and be considerate, fair and firm in all dealings with them
Good penmanship, neatness, and attention to detail a plus
Requires above average mathematical ability
Should have strong office background, as this position requires good telephone etiquette, use of office machines, and the knowledge of several types of filing systems
Computer experience and internet familiarity required
Must have an excellent attendance record
Requires some lifting and ability to access difficult residences (e.g. with stairs, long driveways with no vehicle access, etc.)
Valid Wisconsin driver’s license and access to an insured vehicle
Must be able to work some flexible and irregular hours as needed
Job Types: Full-time, Temporary
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
