In keeping with our organization’s goals, the primary purpose of the Social Services Administrator is to plan, organize, develop and direct the overall operation of our Social Services Department and all other departments homed at the La Fe C.A.R.E. Center. Success in this position is measured by compliance with current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations that govern our facility and through patient quality outcomes. Provides technical support and service to department heads and supervisors in order to best achieve efficient operations. Responsible for the maintenance, measurement and reporting of efficient clinic operations. Plans, directs and coordinates all activities to ensure La Fe's mission, goal and objectives are accomplished in accordance with bilingual, bicultural responsiveness, prescribed operational priorities, and funding revenue conditions. Frequently exercises initiative and independent judgment.

Responsibilities and Duties

Participate in the planning, developing, organizing, implementing, evaluating and directing of the social service programs and other departments of the facility.

Keeps Executive Management informed of status of operations.

Responsible for the effective management and administration of the department's operation budget.

Develop and maintain a good working rapport with intra-department personnel, other departments within the facility, and outside community health, welfare and social agencies, to ensure that social service programs are properly maintained to meet the needs of the clients.

Participate in community planning related to the interests of the facility and the services and needs of the patient/client and family.

Meet with administration, medical and nursing staff and other related departments in planning social services and other client services.

Coordinate social service activities with other departments as necessary.

Participate in client assessments, development and implementation of social care plans, and discharge planning as needed.

Assist in developing, administering, and coordinating department policies and procedures.

Keep abreast of current federal and state regulations and make recommendations for changes in facility policies and procedures.

Ensures effective information retrieval procedures are maintained.

Assumes authority, responsibility and accountability of directing the facility.

Supervises trains and develops department/program staff, volunteers, students and interns.

Attends and participates in regular Board and committee meetings; as well as other meetings, conferences, workshops, professional associations and governmental organizations, etc.)

Coordinates services with external agencies that provide funding, regulatory or sub-contract services.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing in a professional manner.

Self-motivated and self-directed

Bilingual English/Spanish.

Required Education

Master’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited school of social work approved by the Council on Social Work Education.

Current or eligible Social Work Licensure by the Texas State Board of Social Work Examiners as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) and/or Credential as an Advanced Clinical Practitioner (LMSW-ACP), preferred.

Required Experience

Four years progressively responsible experience coordinating and supervising social services programs, with at least two years in a supervisory capacity, Or Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Clinical experience in varied multi- disciplinary settings.
