This position is part of Cepheid Diagnostics and will be located in Newark, CA.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
Will repair and maintain equipment related to building(s), production, utilities, lighting, and plumbing in accordance with safety procedures.
Perform inspection on injection molded parts, high precision machined parts, sheet metal, cable assemblies, PC Board Assemblies, and packaging materials to determine compliance with specifications.
Provide primary support and address any Facilities request.
Will maintain and repair all types of lab and process equipment.
Perform skilled maintenance working with electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems, water treatment systems and compressed air systems.
Respond immediately to emergency situations and customer concerns.
Work as a team by interacting and communicating with fellow associates in a collaborative and constructive manner.
Conduct periodic inspections to identify malfunction of equipment or systems.
Carefully detail all repairs and adjustment activities.
Will make recommendations to upgrade maintenance operations and/or implement savings opportunities.
Coordinate planned and unplanned activities with contractors and vendors to perform repairs and preventative maintenance activities for all types of labs and process equipment
Provide support to general Facilities Services and EH&S as needed.
Record all maintenance and general facilities activities in the company’s work order system (Blue Mountains Regulatory Asset Manager - RAM).
Order needed repair parts for equipment with supervisor’s approval.
Assist with training and performance building of other technicians.
The essential requirements of the job include:
HS diploma degree (or equivalent experience) with 4-6 years of related work experience, in GLP/GMP environment.
EPA certification.
Hands on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining an HVAC system is required.
Hands on experience with electrical and plumbing troubleshooting, preferably in a manufacturing environment, is require
Willing to travel other sites and work overtime and including weekends are required.
Excellent workmanship standards are meaningful.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Basic digital literacy and proven understanding of MS-Word and Excel.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills.
Ability to coach, instruct & mentor.
Ability to manage vendors & perform basic accounting tasks.
Ability to lift up to 60lbs, climb ladders, work above ceilings and on roof tops. Stand and walk for extensive periods of time.
It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
Building Operator Certification Level I or II.
Experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining Dehumidification units and Chilled Water Systems for dry rooms.
Hands on experience troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining compressed air systems, air dryers and Water Treatment Systems.
Experience working with multi-meters to troubleshoot electrical, temperature, and pressure related issues.
Interpreting manuals and schematics for electrical, mechanical, and plumbing.
Ability to read schematics.
