Position Description:
As a medical assistant, you will function as a member of a clinical team performing supportive tasks in the delivery of patient care that is safe, effective, patient-centered, timely, efficient and equitable. A strong candidate will possess expertise in patient care, organizational skills, and maintain an ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinic.
Areas of Responsibilities:
- Assist healthcare professionals in providing patient care and support in a medical setting
- Perform basic medical procedures and tasks under the supervision of a physician or nurse
- Take patient vital signs, record medical history, and update patient charts
- Prepare examination rooms and ensure they are clean and stocked with necessary supplies
- Administer medications and injections as directed by healthcare providers
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting specimens and preparing them for analysis
- Assist with patient scheduling, referrals, and follow-up appointments
- Provide patient education on medical conditions, treatments, and preventive care
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records
Requirements:
- Certification (CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA) may be required
- Knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology
- Ability to provide excellent patient care with compassion and empathy
- Proficient in basic life support (BLS) techniques
- Experience with medication administration and dosage calculations
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively interact with patients, healthcare professionals, and other staff members
- Familiarity with X-ray procedures and equipment is a plus
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
- Prior experience in a hospital or clinical setting is preferred
Education:
- Completion of an approved Medical Assistant training program OR one (1) year of experience (in addition to the three (3) years of experience required to meet the experience requirement) AND certification may be substituted for Medical Assistant training program.
Experience:
- Healthcare Setting: 2 years (preferred)
- Neurology: 2 years (preferred)
Bilingual preferred. Spanish a plus.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
