What are the responsibilities and job description for the Database Administrator II position at Cerner Corporation?

As a Database Administrator II, you will Install and upgrade database software. You will implement and maintain database security. You will conduct proactive and reactive database monitoring and maintenance. You will configure, monitor and maintain database replication. You will set up and maintain database backups. You will triage and troubleshoot database alerts and issues; work with more senior team members to identify root cause and implement corrective action. You will perform database tuning, performance monitoring and capacity management. You will apply database software updates and stand-alone hotfixes to client environments. You will communicate with third party software vendors as needed, to triage support issues.

Working Environment

Hybrid & Onsite: No Relocation Assistance Offered

This position offers a Hybrid & Onsite working environment. Meaning you will split working time between a Cerner office or client site and remote. If your current geographical location requires relocating, Cerner will not offer relocation assistance to the specified location. #LI-Hybrid

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:
  • At least 5 years total combined related work experience and completed higher education.
    • At least 1 year of database, system administration and/or system engineering work experience.
    • At least 4 years of additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job and/or completed higher education.
      • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electronic, Mathematics or Operational Research.
Expectations:
  • Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand personal role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations.

Due to specific client contract requirements, this position requires that the successful candidate be a U.S. citizen. The client contract also requires receipt of the appropriate government security clearance card applicable for the position.
