Architects interact with Project Managers and clients to understand their needs and work to ensure that the final design is safe, useful, and aesthetically pleasing. Responsibilities
At CESO, an Architect is responsible for leading the building design effort from start to finish and manages the production of building construction documents in accordance with local and national codes and regulations. Architects interact with Project Managers and clients to understand their needs and work to ensure that the final design is safe, useful, and aesthetically pleasing. You will have primary responsibilities that include:
- Lead and manage architectural projects from preparation of concepts and design development through complete construction documentation that includes specifications, materials, colors, furnishings, fixtures, equipment, and estimated costs
- Perform site visits and field measurements as required to document existing conditions for renovation projects
- Define and communicate project scope, objectives, and schedule to staff and clients. This may include soliciting partner proposals for SMEP
- Perform life-safety analysis and code reviews of existing and new builds to ensure design will comply with adopted codes
- Lead the due diligence research and permit submission process
- Develop project schedules and coordinate construction documentation
- Coordinate with clients and vendors to ensure adherence to policies and performance measures
- Facilitate project meetings and communicate findings internally to design partners and make external presentations to applicable authorities having jurisdiction
- Perform contract or construction administration associated with architectural services to include RFIs, shop drawing reviews, pay application reviews, construction observations and/or final SF verification surveys
- Motivate team members through mentoring, coaching, and training to assist in professional development
- Understand and interpret basic building codes, code organization and determine code requirements/compliance paths for projects
- Perform other project duties as assigned
- Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture with 4 years of experience with a current registration; or in lieu of a degree, 10 years of experience in Architecture with a current registration
- Architectural License (active) required
- LEED Certification preferred
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of Photo Editing Software
- Strong understanding of building design and entitlement processes
- Ability to travel
