YOUR ROLE
The Claims Adjuster is responsible for the administration of the claims management process related to all cargo claims, domestic international and contract logistics and assist with other related duties as needed. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Utilize knowledge of Excel/database analytics to assist in pricing Receive and review claims for accuracy and data completion.
- Administer reserves as per applicable contract.
- Investigate claim and document file in preparation for settlement and/or declination.
- When applicable, prepare settlement authorizations and presentation for approval and follow-up for closure with upper management and/or insurance company.
- Act as a resource to defense attorneys in litigation process.
- Conduct research and other activities for legal defense matters.
- Act as a liaison between the company and the insurance carrier on large occurrences.
- Work with other departments to gather information on large occurrences.
- Develop and generate detailed management reports.
- Work with finance department to align current reserves.
- Provide assistance to other team members.
- Serve as a resource to station management on claims handling issues.
- Maintain effective means of communication with station and corporate management with regard to significant or material high dollar claims.
- Obtain continuous status reports from claimants in regards to their claims.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- be able to read, write and speak English and French fluently.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Ability to read, analyse, and interpret customers contracts, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Demonstrated technical expertise and product specific knowledge.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
- Capable of communicating and interacting effectively with multi-functional and diverse backgrounds and ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, customers, vendors and employees.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills, detail oriented, with strong mathematical, logical, analytical and financial analysis skills. Demonstrated skill in the creation of spreadsheets and complex reports.
- Ability to manage complex or emotional client, vendor or employee situations promptly and professionally meeting commitments for service and assistance and maintain stable performance under pressure or opposition.
- Ability to exercise professional judgment, diplomacy, patience and discretion in dealing with sensitive, confidential information.
- Ability to identify and understand issues, problems and opportunities; comparing data from different sources to draw conclusions. Skilled in exploring alternatives and positions to reach outcomes that gain all parties’ support and acceptance. Utilize reliable, consistent research and follow-up skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and build strong working relationships with all levels of the organization, vendors, third party and/or ancillary service providers. Excellent planning, time management, collaboration, decision making, organization, presentation and negotiating skills.
- Make customers and their needs a primary focus of one's actions; developing and sustaining productive relationships.
- Must be able to read, write and speak English and French fluently.
Minimum:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Minimum 2 years related experience.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or Risk Management or equivalent combination of work experience and education.
- Minimum 2 years industry experience.
- All Lines Adjuster License
