Job Description Summary Do you have extensive experience leading and promoting a strong safety culture in the agriculture industry? CGB Enterprises is seeking an individual with exceptional leadership focused on a safety behavioral culture to lead and inspire our company safety initiatives. This job is primarily responsible for providing strategic leadership to all safety matters in the organization. Responsibilities include ensuring that all safety programs and procedures are implemented effectively and operations are in compliance with OSHA and other government regulations; mentoring and directing the efforts of safety managers and safety coordinators; participating in change management processes and strategic management issues; and participate in long-term direction of safety policies and goals of the organization. In this job, you will: Provide visionary and strategic leadership of the organization’s safety programs; active in governmental affairs, agencies and increased government inspections that negatively impact the organizations operations. Conduct focused visits and communication with General Managers and other regional management. Develop and maintain a safe work environment at all locations; improve methods for risk identification and assessment and provides recommendations for risk mitigation and acceptance; and monitor the effectiveness of the safety program, committee member and the employee recognition program. Interpret and communicate OSHA standards; consult with and solicit input from risk management and safety committee members prior to making major changes; assure the organizations safety policies and procedures are effective for all divisions (making adjustments where needed to meet special needs). Work with safety staff in proper management of first aid injuries, development of accident alerts, leads/assists with accident investigation when necessary, and follow-up with regional management and safety staff to ensure corrective actions are effective and have been accomplished. Provide reports, trends, analysis, subject matter expertise and recommendations for critical safety decisions and solutions to address any deficiencies, gaps, or opportunities for improvements. Act as the point person for the organization for dealing with OSHA and reporting issues to OSHA as required; assure the appropriate annual documentation is provided to OSHA in a timely manner. Ensure safety management and direct reports have the resources to be successful and are receiving appropriate training to maintain their skills. Work with management in establishing and enforcing guidelines with safety rules and procedures, and in developing safety plan for acquisitions. Organize and coordinate activities of the Safety Committee. Provide personal assistance in the event of a catastrophe or other event that result in serious or multiple injuries. Other duties as assigned. Here’s what you’ll need to be considered: Education Required - Degree in Safety related field. Experience Required - 12 years' safety experience; including 7 years' experience managing and directing a safety process. License/Certification Preferred - CSP from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Working knowledge of auditing. Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Good presentation skills. Effective interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with the ability to interact with all levels of people within and outside the organization. Excellent problem solving skills. Excellent coaching, mentoring, and team building skills. Must remain active in trade organizations, such as GEAPS, NGFA, ASSE, National Safety Council and other trade organizations that will have a positive effect of company operations. Here’s additional information you need to know: Physical Demands & Requirements Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. Ability to climb stairs, climb ladders, balance, stoop and kneel, occasionally. Ability to stand or sit constantly/continuously. The employee is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. Environmental Conditions The work environment described here are meant to be representative of those an employee would normally encounter while performing the essential functions of this job. The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside where there are limited extremes to heat and/or cold; moderate noise; a normal office environment as well as outside in heat/cold, wet/humid/ and dry/arid conditions.
