What are the responsibilities and job description for the In-House Legal Counsel position at CH Ventures, LLC?
Wilmette-based owners of multi-unit residential and commercial properties seek in-house counsel to assume primary responsibility over all legal matters.
Qualifications/Skills
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- 3 to 5 years’ experience in general practice and litigation.
- Licensed to practice in Illinois state courts and licensed, or eligible to be licensed, in the Northern District of Illinois.
- Experience in drafting and responding to pleadings, conducting discovery, taking depositions, and trying cases.
- Prefer some experience in class action defense, discrimination claim defense, and construction litigation.
- Work with experienced in-house property tax department that specializes in preparing pleadings before various property taxing bodies.
Responsibilities
- Prosecute and defend all aspects of litigation on behalf of owners.
- Oversee property tax appeals with well-experienced staff.
- Oversee eviction matters.
- Analyze and draft contracts and other agreements.
- Assist outside counsel hired by insurance carriers.
This is an in-office position with occasional court appearances required in downtown Chicago and in Skokie.
Salary is dependent upon skills and past experience.
