Professional Requirements
Reporting to the Manager, demonstrates ability to perform Echocardiography studies on infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics patients. Ability to assist/perform cardiac stress testing and scan Holter tapes, and ability to maintain accurate patient records.
Position Summary:
- Performs Echocardiography studies as medically prescribed by a physician, and demonstrates proficiency in routine, stress, dobutamine, and transesophageal studies. Demonstrates knowledge of anatomy of pre-mature infants.
- Performs all necessary measurements and calculations prior to presentation of the study to the reading cardiologist.
Assist or performs cardiac stress testing (i.e. pharmacological and/or exercise tests).
- Maintains accurate logs and records of all procedures, and insures the proper and complete billing of procedures and tests. Maintains an accurate video library of all tests performed.
- Maintains a current knowledge of all current echocardiography techniques, trends, and equipment as it relates to the specific age and size of patient.
- Cleans and performs all quality control of equipment, and ensures all preventative maintenance is completed in a timely manner.
- Demonstrates knowledge of age specific care, including but not limited to, identifies the need for additional safety measures, physiological normal values/readings; and assesses skin integrity, behavior, motor skills and/or activities that place patients at risk as well as communicates effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner. Applicable for the populations checked below: Infant (x ) Pediatric (x ) Adult (x ) Geriatric (x ).
- Demonstrates ability to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the job without direct supervision, including the ability to make decisions within certain prescribed limits on essentially procedure-oriented operations where the decision making involves good judgment rather than requiring independence of thought and the exercise of significant subjective discretion. Includes the ability to establish work priorities to meet established deadlines.
Qualifications
Minimum Education:
- High School diploma or equivalent.

Minimum Work Experience and Qualifications:
- Certification as an Echocardiograph Technician, with minimum one (1) years’ experience in all modalities of Echo testing, including continuous wave Doppler, M-Mode, two-dimensional, Pulsed wave Doppler, and color-flow Doppler.
- One-year previous experience in Pediatric Echo required.
Previous experience in Holter scanning and cardiac stress testing.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to assist/perform stress testing (must demonstrate competency within 30 days from date of hire).
Possesses EKG Interpretation- Certification of Completion (must have 30 days from date of hire).
