Days/Hours: M - F -- Full Time Shifts vary depending on the needs of the individuals served and can be days or evenings, occasional overnight or split shifts & weekends
Location: St. Louis
Pay Rate: $20 per hour
Reporting to the Director of Community Employment, the Job Developer is responsible for facilitating vocational training services which provide people who have different abilities opportunities to work with integrated teams and receive work support as needed—achieving the highest level of independence possible.
Responsible for Provide 1-1 vocational development support, and counseling for persons with disabilities. Provide job placement assistance to clients based on program and contract need. Maintain accurate records, provide professional communication with managers, clients, and potential employers.
Encourage effective outcomes and accountability. Help the Employment Services Team maintain quality services and meet outcomes in both Illinois and Missouri. Maintain up to date understanding of the expectations for each program and techniques that will provide best practices and quality outcomes. Gain working understanding of services and outcome requirements for paid contract services. Build an effective company culture that embodies our company values to achieve goals and objectives. Provide services resulting in client placement into employment that meets the client interests and desired employment as well as meets the individual service plan and funding source goals of placements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Relations
Promote a culture of person-centered services that advance the Company’s mission to provide quality care and services in a community-based setting to individuals with disabilities. Ensure a high rate of client satisfaction. Communication regularly and effectively with managers and clients regarding progress toward goals and program success. Review client files and determine their individual needs. Demonstrate our Company values to achieve optimum performance levels and achieve goals and objectives.
Community Worksite Development
Assist clients in securing competitive community employment based on clients’ goals and interests. Promote clients with community employers and develop working relationships with local businesses. Provide employer contacts to placement reports including relevant contact information, wage, benefits, hours of work, duties to be performed and other information for placement reports.
Client Employment, Training
- · Carry caseload of up to 35 clients
- · Complete Career Profile with clients
- · Schedule 1–2-hour appointments with clients 2-3 times a month
- · Create a working Gmail account with clients - to be used on resume/applications
- · Create a working resume with clients
- · Conduct job searches with clients
- · Complete job applications with clients or on their behalf (if permission is given) - apply for 3 jobs minimum per meeting.
- · Conduct mock interviews with clients – support clients in areas of improvement
- · Support clients during the interview process based on individual needs – taking client to interviews, sitting in on interviews, etc..
Documentation
Maintain case files with up-to-date information. ·
- Input chronological notes for each client – summary of each meeting with client - Chronological notes are to be recorded by Friday of each week. ·
- Record all positions the clients applied for on the JOB LOG worksheet – complete during each scheduled meeting. ·
- Update the JOB LOG worksheet as needed – interview, not hired, etc..
Perform other related duties and assignments as required
Requirements
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's Degree preferred or Associate's degree in related field or H.S. Diploma.
Experience: 2 years of experience working with people with Developmental Disabilities or Mental Health impairments. Background in job placement for persons with various disabilities. Sales and marketing skills helpful.
Certifications/Licenses: CPR, 1st Aid, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training provided by the company must be successfully completed within the first 4 months to be certified and annually thereafter for CPR, 1st Aid and CPI to maintain the position.
Computer Skills: Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Background Checks: Must pass criminal background check. Must pass various State and Federal registry checks. Must pass DCFS Abuse and Neglect Tracking System check. Must pass driving history check and Company policy criteria, maintain valid driver’s license and be 21 or older to drive on Company business.
Driving: Use of personal insured vehicle for Company-related travel is required. May occasionally drive Company vehicle to transport clients for community work or activities or for meetings.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Sitting Occasionally sitting in the normal course of office-sedentary type work.
Standing Normal course of office-sedentary type work and for training workers.
Hearing, Speaking Frequently listening to and speaking with managers, staff, and clients to communicate about requests, training needs and other concerns.
Seeing Continually visually alert to monitor, to read and write or type documents, observe client interactions, and communicate with all.
Handling Frequently using hands in handling products, writing, typing, and general office work.
Movement Kneeling is required to perform CPR practice sessions; complete skills testing and use as required. Walking in community settings
