Champion Home Builders is seeking a
MATERIALS MANAGER
for our Athens, TX location!
FLSA Status: Exempt
Summary Directs and coordinates activities of personnel engaged in purchasing and distributing materials, equipment, and supplies in the plant by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates. Directly supervises the Assistant Materials Manager, Head Receiver and all Material Handlers and Forklift personnel. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Personnel responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; monitoring time and attendance; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Plans, organizes, directs, and controls activities related to the implementation of the corporate contracts. May enter information into Navision and validating its correctness.
- Organizes, supervises, and directs the work of the Assistant Materials Manager, Head Receiver, and all Material Handler personnel engaged in receiving, issuing, and delivering supplies and equipment.
- Prepares and issues purchase orders and change notices based on inventory needs after an inventory is taken.
- Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
- Prepares and reviews contracts, bids, proposals, and vendor agreements for legal correctness, price, and acceptability of items to specifications.
- Oversees all activities related to procurement of a commodity, from intent to purchase through delivery of a commodity.
- Interface with corporate purchasing on supplier problems and give feedback on supplier quality. Update corporate purchasing on new products used and specification changes.
- Work with suppliers on invoice and payment issues.
Qualifications
- Experience in a Materials Manager role including each of the reporting areas, Purchasing, Inventory Control, Production Planning, and Shipping and Receiving.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel.
- Understanding of supply chain and inventory management systems.
- Understanding of forecasting and budgeting
- Working knowledge of Navision ERP or other ERP systems is a plus.
- Must be able to meet deadlines, multi task and work under pressure.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills
- A problem-solver.
Education and/or Experience
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
