Schwab is looking for a Workplace Technology Architect, serving as the Principal Architect for end-user computing, who has a passion for architecting and delivering modern solutions and patterns across on-prem, cloud, and desktop environments.  This individual will work across numerous organizations to build and execute a strategic roadmap for collaboration and real-time communication, corporate apps, end-user compute and productivity, mobile, search and knowledge management, and support service.  Additionally, this individual will mentor and consult with executive leadership and engineers and enable the successful delivery of key initiatives.

What you are good at

• Advance the modernization and strategies in various workplace technology areas.
• Collaborate with executive and IT stakeholders to align on strategic roadmaps that account for end-user needs, broader technology organization objectives, and enterprise architecture standards.
• Pragmatically enforce architecture principles, standards, and patterns using established Enterprise Architecture governance processes and frameworks.
• Articulate and prescribe fit-for-purpose guidance in each area of workplace technology, considering both functional requirements and non-functional requirements such as extensibility, scalability, economics, and time-to-insight.
• Effectively communicate the pros and cons of the workplace technology direction to executive and technical stakeholders across senior levels of the organization.
• Continually learn and stay on top of cloud technology trends that improve enterprise solutions and hybrid environments.
• Develop and maintain strong awareness and acumen of Schwab’s business and technology domains and the financial industry standards and regulations.
• Assist teams in the delivery of project efforts focused on key business objectives and outcomes.
• Support the modernization of core products and services in the workplace technology space.
• Providing thought leadership around technical solutions and be an active member of a collaborative senior architecture team that solves cross-organizational problems and aspirations.

What you have

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
• 10 years of experience architecting platforms and infrastructure for scalable, distributed systems in large, regulated enterprises.
• 5 years of experience in an enterprise cloud architecture role driving workplace technology strategy with more than 3 years specializing in at least of the major cloud providers (Google Cloud Platform, AWS, and Azure product services).
• Knowledge and experience with Infrastructure as Code products, such as Terraform and Ansible.
• Familiar with enterprise networking concepts including routing, VPNs, load balancers, firewalls, and connecting on-premises networks to cloud. 5 Years’ experience working closely with Network Architects.
• Experience leading workplace technology cloud migration efforts, and knowledge of Microsoft 365 or Google Workplace and the architectural/technical concerns associated with those platforms.
• Extensive experience architecting and designing virtual desktop solutions, including Citrix based solutions.
• Broad knowledge of enterprise search, knowledge management, and document management.
• Broad understanding of collaboration tools and concepts, like MS Teams, telephone conferencing, streaming/video on-demand services, and digital whiteboards.
• Broad understanding of mobile devices, applications, device procurement and enablement.
• Skilled in communicating complex technical concepts and requirements to both technical and nontechnical audiences
• Ability to carry and execute vision and strategy across a highly matrixed organization to influence key stakeholders on the design and implementation of the data transformation
• Extensive experience in driving strategy for remote virtual desktops (persisted/hosted shared) and thin terminals.
• Ability to quickly learn, understand, and work with new emerging technologies, methodologies, and solutions in the Cloud/IT technology space.
• Ability to articulate verbally and through formal presentations complex architectures, options, and decisions to executives in a succinct and compelling fashion
• Command of technologies down to the implementation level that allows for technical leads to connect the dots of specific use cases with larger strategic architectural principles and patterns
• Unfailing ability to manage and meet expectations of executives, peers, and technical staff.
• Versed in multi-tenant, high-availability production environments
• Experience with Agile Delivery in a multi-disciplinary, matrixed environment.
• Strong organizational, critical thinking, facilitation capabilities, and the interpersonal skills necessary to assess complex problems, analyze options, navigate diverse perspectives and objectives, and develop appropriate solutions
• Strong work ethic, positive demeanor, and the drive to see projects through to successful completion. Assertive and proactive and can bring out the best in others.
