Job Summary

Perform a variety of specialized technical tasks utilizing high frequency ultrasound waves to assist with the detection of anatomical abnormalities. • Perform ultrasounds and all essential duties listed on the job description.

Responsibilities

• Perform all the duties and responsibilities of Level I. • Perform a variety of complex specialized tasks utilizing ultrasonic high frequency sound waves to detect abnormalities including masses, abscesses, and stones. • Utilize accessory equipment such as transducers, multi-format cameras, printers, and PACS workstations. • Prepare patients for procedures, explain procedures to patients. Report changes in patient condition to medical staff. Provide an oral and written summary of preliminary findings to the radiologist. Evaluate quality of sonograms. Determine if additional sonograms or ultrasound procedures are indicated. • Assists in training of Rad Tech/Ultrasound students during clinical rotations. • Maintain patient records. • Charge procedures and supplies. Archive and de-archive ultrasound data. Perform other related duties incidental to the work therein. • Assist physicians with biopsy procedures, guiding biopsy instrument using sonographic techniques. Perform ultrasound procedures, doppler vascular examinations, abdominal studies and color-flow ultrasound, OBGYN procedures as required. Competency in specialty area(breast,pediatric heads, pediatric hips, maintenance ACR Accreditation) • Assists in training of Rad Tech/Ultrasound students during clinical rotations. Orients new ultrasonographers; provides education and training to new sonographers. Provide direction and instruction to existing personnel.

Specifically the employee must be able to demonstrate competency in: 1) ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of patient needs; 2) knowledge of growth and development; and 3) understanding of the range of treatment needed by the patients. Competency Statement Must demonstrate competency through an initial orientation and ongoing competency validation to independently perform tasks and additional duties as specified in the job description and the unit/department specific competency checklist. Perform work in alignment with the overall mission and strategic plan of the organization. 8. Follow organizational and departmental policies and procedures, as applicable. 9. Perform related duties as assigned.

Education

• Formalized Training (Required) Education: Formalized Training - Rad Tech Substitutions: Formal Ultrasound Education May Be Substituted For One Year Of Medical Imaging Clinical Experience Comments: Formalized training is defined as a graduate of an AMA approved School of Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, or successful completion of an Ultrasonography program enabling the graduate to sit for the ARDMS exam.
