Responsibilities
Schedule
Primarily day shift, must be able to work holidays and weekends.
The Role
The Machine Operator/ Ripener works in the Ripening Department and is responsible for supporting the daily ripening process. Responsible for moving inventory of all commodities assigned and maintaining the proper color chart or ripeness level expectations with very low tolerance for variance. It is a fast paced environment where the volume of inventory requires a high level of tracking and following proper procedures using the warehouse management system to maintain inventory integrity by following best practices.
Essential Responsibilities Include but Not Limited To
- Uses a sitdown forklift at an advanced level to move product in precise locations.
- Operates the control panel/ system for Banana Ripening Rooms.
- Check Bananas or other commodities that is ripened upon arrival.
- Conduct quality check, sorting & grading of Bananas in warehouse.
- Help oversee fill rate of all item codes involving ripened commodities.
- Track proper scheduled guidelines in ripening status.
- Oversees Banana Room/ machine maintenance and responsible for sanitation rooms.
- Communicate any changes or errors in ripening process to supervisors.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- Advanced experience, min 2 recent years, utilizing sitdown forklift and proven safety capabilities.
- Must be able to maintain good attendance and continued reliability.
- Must have strong attention to detail, high accuracy and effective communication skills.
- Must have previous machine operation (food industry preferable), inventory or cold distribution experience.
- Proven ability to build productive relationships with all levels of management and staff.
- Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and able to execute daily team objectives.
Supplemental Information
