TITLE: Visual Designer
REPORTS TO: VP of Communications
LOCATION: Hybrid – Remote and in-person in Washington, DC
POSITION SUMMARY
The ideal candidate is a creative individual with deep expertise in designing captivating print, digital and social marketing materials. The Visual Designer is responsible for creating and managing all print and digital media projects for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI). This includes the conceptualization and execution of infographics, laying out publications, and designing collateral materials. The Visual Designer is also responsible for the graphical user interface and images on the CHCI website, developing digital and interactive media, social media graphics, and other materials as needed. This position will report to the VP of Communications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage the full lifecycle of graphic design projects, from conceptualization to creation for all the organization.
- Design and layout organizational collateral: reports, one-pagers, program booklets, and other publications.
- Assist in developing the brand identity and collateral of new programs and events.
- Work with the Communications Team in the creation and/or development of new media products (videos, slideshows, animations, etc.)
- Work with the Events Team on print and digital needs for all convenings including Issue Summits, Hispanic Heritage Month events, program graduations, leadership conferences, awards galas, and more.
- Work with the Development and Corporate Relations Team on annual reports, pitch decks, sponsor offerings, and partner event invitations.
- Work with the Programs Team on recruitment materials, helping to better promote all CHCI’s leadership programs.
- Maintain digital and hard-copy archive of final publications, one-pagers, presentations, and graphics and promote the use of existing print publications.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in related field with at least 5 years of related professional work experience; or equivalent combination of education and years of experience.
- Strong portfolio of design, data visualization, production, and web work.
- Proficiency with Canva and all Adobe Creative Suite Professional products, with an emphasis on InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, and CMS.
- Ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines and manage multiple tasks in an efficient manner with minimal supervision.
- Detail-oriented and ability to adhere to branding guide, editorial style, and format guidelines for all external communications.
- Ability to create solutions, adapt to new priorities and revisit logistical challenges to manage time sensitive projects.
- Ability to work effectively across multiple teams.
- Experience managing conflicting priorities and troubleshooting when necessary.
- Commitment to the mission of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute
Preferred:
- Knowledge of ArcGIS, photography, video editing (After Effects and Premiere) and production skills a plus.
- Familiarity with CHCI and its current brand.

Salary : $75,000 - $80,000
