Dental assisting is the often over-looked career segment of healthcare that offers all of the upsides of a nursing career and none of the downsides! If you possess the right set of foundation skills, we are happy to provide the education and training “on the job” for you to become a highly skilled assistant. Candidates with prior dental experience are certainly welcomed to apply, too.

Can you imagine yourself working as a dental assistant? Common tasks include:
- Greeting and seating patients; conversing and creating meaningful relationships with patients
- Assisting Dr. Brice, Dr. Chandler or Dr. Cheek during treatment: suctioning, passing instruments and materials, providing post operative instructions
- Educating patients about treatment, post-operative, and preventive care
- After training: Provide expanded duty dental services as governed by the Georgia Board of Dentistry, including taking X-Rays and making dental impressions
- Participating in continuing education programs
- Managing dental instruments, setting up and breaking down rooms for procedures
Do you have the foundation criteria we are seeking?
- Excellent writing skills: Candidate must demonstrate excellent sentence structure, spelling, and accurate composition so that clinical notes describing patient services are charted accurately
- Fast keyboarding and solid computer skills: Do consider yourself “software savvy”?
- Customer service skills: Easily expresses empathy and professionalism
- Preference to work in a true team setting
- Excellent hand-eye coordination: can you thread a needle, manipulate small items with your hands, at ease with arts and crafts?
- Passionate desire to work in the healthcare field and help others
- Interest in dental anatomy and biology: Must like teeth!
- Excellent references: Stable, Reliable, Dependable
- Able-bodied to comfortably and frequently maneuver a fast-paced working environment; if you consciously do NOT want a desk job, you are geared like a dental assistant.
- Candidates with a bachelor’s degree or completion of foundation-building college courses are preferred. Many dental assistants have bachelor’s in Biology, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or Health Science. Surgical techs, vet techs, medical assistants, pharmacy technicians or related professionals often find their rewarding, permanent career positions in dentistry.
