What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Specialist position at Chemico, LLC?
The Warehouse Specialist (WHS) is responsible for performing various Hazardous Material (HM) management tasks in support of the Chemical Management Services (CMS) contract including material offloading, receiving and inspection, database entry, labeling, delivery, storage, inventory, and operation of material handling equipment.
Specific Warehouse Specialist tasks include, but are not limited to the following:
- Retain expertise of, and compliance with applicable SOPs.
- Receive hazardous materials shipments via commercial transport and/or delivery drivers, e.g. FedEx, UPS, USPS, etc.
- Perform receiving inspections of all HM received to include inspecting for quantity, damage, and completeness of shipping documentation to include Safety Data Sheets (SDS). Tracking of frustrated items and resolution process.
- Record all hazardous materials received in the Hazardous Material Inventory Database System (HMIDS) and Chemico Chemical Management Information System (CMIS).
- Print, apply, and maintain required labeling for each item of hazardous material.
- Palletize and/or stage Hazardous Material for transport to the assigned storage shed as directed ensuring material is properly loaded and secured.
- Transport hazardous materials to designated area, as directed.
- Accept collections of HAZWASTE (HW) for storage and pick up.
- Participate in hazardous materials inventory including performing safety inspections and operational inspections.
- Maintain proper storage of hazardous materials to include segregation based on Hazard Compatibility Code (HCC).
- Ensure compliance with all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
- Maintain working knowledge of CMIS including but not limited to: basic computer navigation and applicable work-related applications.
- Operate material handling equipment including motor vehicles, motorized scooters, golf-carts, forklifts, electric and manual pallet jacks, shrink wrap machine, and/or burden carriers as assigned.
- Participate in the removal and clean-up of hazardous material spills that are considered “housekeeping” in nature.
- Other duties as assigned. May be temporarily assigned to other duties as necessary to meet contract requirements.
Qualification Requirements
- Must be a citizen of the United States.
- Must be vaccinated against COVID-19 and provide supporting documentation.
- Must maintain a valid state driver’s license and clean driving record at all times.
- Must pass criminal and financial background check and drug screening prior to hire and must be able to pass and sustain the DLA PSI background check criteria during the entire duration of their employment.
- High School Diploma or an equivalent and a minimum of one year experience in controlling and managing, distributing and storing hazardous materials.
- Must maintain excellent physical condition and be able to lift a minimum of 60 lbs. unassisted.
- Required to provide and wear OSHA-compliant and serviceable protective footwear at all times.
- Must possess acceptable computer operations and database entry skills.
- Must possess acceptable interpersonal, organization, communication, and customer service skills.
- Must present a neat and professional appearance consistent with the workplace environment.
Salary : $33,700 - $42,700
