What are the responsibilities and job description for the R&D Intern position at ChemTreat?
General Description
In this role, the Intern aids senior members of R&D with their projects. The goal is two-fold, for the intern to learn about water treatment while providing basic lab support keeping safety at the forefront of all activities. The intern is expected to conduct experiments under close guidance of senior members within R&D, record observations and compile results for project reports. Literature and background searches are an integral responsibility. The intern should be able to interpret results at a basic level. At the conclusion of the internship, the Intern should understand most basic concepts about water treatment, be able to conduct experiments independently and interpret results confidently.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Employment with ChemTreat is on an at-will basis, which means that either the employee or ChemTreat can terminate the employment relationship at any time and for any reason (or no reason), with or without notice, unless the employee and ChemTreat have entered a written agreement signed by the employee and a duly authorized representative of ChemTreat.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
- Mix synthetic water solutions for customer testing.
- Setup and take down experiments.
- Perform product dilutions and make non-ISO blends of raw materials
- Perform analytical testing of waters and experiments..
- Measure physical characteristics
- Receive chemicals and enter them into ChemTreat’s inbound sample log
- Perform literature searches and compile results.
- Write reports summarizing experimental results and findings.
- Maintain a lab space
- Keep detailed records of all experiments
- Maintain confidentiality of all IP including raw materials, formulations and processes
- Other duties as needed
- Must be able to read and understand Safety Data Sheets.
- Technical, Analytical skills, and business knowledge
- Good writing, Communication and Interpersonal skills; Teamwork and collaboration
- Requires completion of two semester of organic chemistry or similar lab based course.
- Undergraduate research is preferred.
- Constantly required to sit and occasionally required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch or crawl, and talk, hear, and smell
- Constantly using hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, and computer keyboards.
- Routinely required to reach with hands and arms, squat, turn/twist, or reach, lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 pounds
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus
