Summary:
TheJunior Analystwill aid to the Senior Scientist and Task Leader.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide framework or curriculum development, in writing and reviewing assessment reports intended for technical and general audiences, supporting development of assessment ancillary materials, and scoring assessments.
- Conduct short-turnaround analyses producing statistical tables, charts, and graphs to support more complex analytic work preparing literature and data documentation searches and reviews and producing the results of analyses in clear written form.
- Support the work of Senior and Mid-Level Analysts.
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)
- At a minimum, a master’s degree in statistics, mathematics, or a social science with course work in statistics and statistical applications, or a bachelor’s degree in statistics, mathematics, or a social science with course work in statistics and statistical applications or a bachelor’s degree and 2 years of experience working in data analysis and/or technical review
- 2 years of demonstrated experience using or contributing to the development, implementation, or analysis of data from the National Household Education Survey, Early Childhood Longitudinal Survey, or Education Supplement of the Current Population Survey
- Successful completion of DOE background check and ability to obtain a public trust
- The position requires a COVID vaccination or an approved accommodation/exemption for a disability/medical condition or religious belief
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to use software compatible with NCES practice.
- Experience with statistical work in education and ability to be of assistance to Senior Analyst or Mid-Level Analyst.
- Experience in conducting analyses by producing tables, charts, and graphs to support more complex analytic work and produce the results of analyses in a clear written form.
- Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality, timely work.
- Ability to manage research and development projects with multiple staff members.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to provide excellent customer service internally and externally.
- Ability to respond to COR/Task Leader and customers’ changing priorities with established deadlines.
- Ability to work as a functional part of a core team with ED staff and its other contractors.
- Exceptional ability to communicate clearly, courteously, and effectively.
- Exceptional ability to communicate orally and in writing.
- Ability to deliver quality products and services that meet and/or exceed customer needs/requirements.
- Ability to travel for up to 25%.
- Ability to occasionally work after hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
