Major/Key Accountabilities

 

Assists NA HSE Director and Regional Operations Managers in leading a geographically dispersed team across all sites in North America. Supports HSE Team in the development and implementation of HSE  performance strategies, compliance initiatives and other regulatory requirements as needed.

 

 

 

Ensures Safety initiatives and compliance protocols are executed using thorough inspection, effective collaboration and coaching.  Recommends new initiatives or process modifications that will improve safety practices throughout the business.  Excellent ability to spot hazardous conditions along with gaps in safety practices and procedures across a wide range of disciplines. Ability to work independently, prioritizing workload effectively and proactively. Delivers support through partnership with HSE and site leadership teams. Influences and assists in building safety awareness and discipline across all sites in N. America.

 

 

 

Flexible, methodical, highly motivated team player; able to learn and assimilate new information and maintain confidentiality; willingness to travel across any (US/Canadian) sites within the group.

 

 

 

 

 

Main Duties:

 

 

 

To include, but not be restricted to, the following:

 

 

 

  • Supports safety initiatives for both HSE and operational partners by driving safety programs, practices and awareness in the field.
  • Advances site safety objectives and performance through comprehensive safety audits, effective coaching of leaders & teams, effective influencing skills, sound recommendations based on accurate data analysis.
  • Liaise closely with site and field leadership, Human Resources, Workman’s Comp representatives, and other support departments as needed.
  • Manage issues related to (but not limited to) injured worker care, reasonable suspicion, waste disposal, forklift operation, fire safety equipment, electrical testing and safety audit non-compliance findings.
  • Assists the HSE Director to maintain BIFR logs, coordinate site training, and identifying assessment needs, risk assessment execution and staff training.
  • Review and record status of all open corrective actions
  • Maintain status updates of Rolling Action Item Lists for CAPEX projects.
  • Reviews injury records to ensure proper documentation & follow up.

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

High School Diploma/GED

 

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Operations or equivalent (preferred)

 

 

 

Experience

 

  • 2 – 5 years of in HSE supervisor role

 

 

 

Skills and Knowledge

 

  • Knowledge of manufacturing operations, directing hourly production employees, OSHA rules and regulation, recordkeeping, and injury management
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to analyze numerical data
  • Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, Power Point.
