What are the responsibilities and job description for the Gaming supervisor position at Cherokee Nation?
Overview Coordinates the day-to-day operations of the gaming agents located at the assigned Cherokee Nation gaming facilities.
Visually monitors gaming activities to protect tribal assets and the integrity of the tribe associated with all the tribe's gaming activities.
Maintains oversight and ensures the physical presence of agents on the gaming floor to assist in ensuring the adherence to applicable laws and regulations and reduce risk of theft and fraudulent activities.
Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Associate's degree from 2-year college or technical school; or two years (60 credit hours) course work from 4-year college or university;
or three years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Bachelor's degree from a 4-year college or university is preferred.
Fields of study include Business, Administrative, Criminal Justice, Technology, Math, Science, Finance, Legal, and / or Management.
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT An additional four (4) years of related experience is required. Related experience includes : Customer Service, Legal, Security, Law Enforcement, and Gaming experience.
COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should have knowledge of Database software; Internet software; Inventory software; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating.
Must be able to successfully pass a background investigation to obtain and maintain a Cherokee Nation Gaming License throughout employment.
Must be able to pass fingerprinting training. OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES Must have effective oral and written communication skills and working knowledge of gaming rules and regulations.
Must possess ability to analyze and interpret numerical data, maintain visual attention and mental concentration for significant periods of time, and be able to perform assigned duties in a highly interruptive conditions.
Must abide by Commission confidentiality policies. Must possess the aptitude to perform fingerprinting.
Conducts training, evaluating and supervising of agents. Monitors performance of subordinates, ensuring adherence to all Gaming Commission policies and procedures.
Prepares schedules for agents. Assists in development and implementation of policies and procedures. Prepares, presents and administers agents training.
Monitors compliance with approved system of internal controls. Cooperates with casino management and security to ensure customer safety.
Coordinates with compliance staff for site projects and functionality testing. Ensures agents review of gaming license applications and attends orientation for licensing guidelines.
Performs and / or assists with on-site reviews of environmental and safety guidelines. Communicates daily with surveillance and security, identifying areas of concern and investigation areas.
Provides direction on investigations occurring in the facility and works with various agents on those investigations as directed by policy.
Abides by Gaming Commission confidentiality policies. Performs other duties as assigned by the Commissioners, Director and Management.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Directly supervises 2 to 15 employees in Gaming Commission. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance;
rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
