Billing Supervisor - Dental
Responsible for working in a team environment for accurate billing of all services provided as it fits within the mission of the Agency. Responsible for ensuring that Billing/Coding department activities, decisions, and functions promote and follow the financial and billing polices of Cherry Health. Consults as needed with management, front-line staff at Cherry Health sites/programs, providers, outside sources, payers, and others to ensure that billing for services is accurate and maximizes revenue and cash flow.

Requirements:
- Must have experience as a biller, team leader, or supervisor in a health care billing setting, preferably within a Federally Qualified Health Center.
- Must have experience with an Electronic Practice Management (EPM) system and a claims clearinghouse, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job listed below.
- High School Diploma required. Associates degree in health information management, healthcare billing/coding, or a similar field is preferred.
- Must be certified by an accredited association. Examples include, but not limited to the following:
- Certified Professional Coder (CPC)
- Certified Professional Biller (CPB)
- Certified Coding Associate (CCA)
- Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
- Certified Coding Specialist Professional (CCS-P)
- Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)
- Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT)
- Certified Dental Coder (CDC)
- Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS)
- or an equivalent certification
Responsibilities:
- Demonstrate leadership and management skills that foster a culture of mentoring, coaching, motivating and engaging staff.

- Educate and empower staff to be adept at meeting current and future organizational needs, and adjust schedule staff hours of work, priorities, and assignments to ensure efficient operation, based on workload.
- Direct, supervise, train, evaluate competencies and address performance issues consistently, promptly, and appropriately.
- Plan and facilitate meetings to communicate organization initiatives and updates to staff.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of department/program budget.
- Assist and maintain reconciliation for annual cost reporting required by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
- Train and lead staff on regulatory changes and updates.
- Assist with management of patient accounts receivables (aging, balances, trends, etc.) and/or manage month-end processes.
- Maintain primary contact with payers and payer representatives.
- Participate in the formulation of procedures related to patient accounts, sliding fee implementation, fees, write-offs, professional courtesy, and other billing/financial topics and seeing that policies and standards are carried out and adhered to.
- Ensure that the staff are trained and evaluated on their knowledge of and adherence to compliance policies and procedures specific to their jobs.
- Ensure that billing is accurate and maximizes revenue and cash flow.
- Analyze reports to ensure proper reimbursement and collection or coding accuracy.
- Research payer updates and implement changes as required.
- Coordinate and troubleshoot system and software issues with the Information Systems department.
- Coordinate and troubleshoot cash and posting issue with Accounting.
- May work directly with specialty service sites, such as Dental, to ensure proper billing and maximize reimbursement.
- May gather data from the claims clearinghouse, the Electronic Practice Management (EPM) system, and the electronic health record.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
