Job Description: 

The Respiratory Care Practitioner is responsible for all activities involved with patient care including equipment and supply procurement, testing, maintenance, training and evaluation of new and established patients, and follow-up tasks. 

Job Duties:  

• Provides thorough training to educate caregivers on the proper use and care of equipment in the home setting, consistent with professional, clinical, and ethical standards of care.
• Assists in educating fellow company employees on the equipment and procedures used for patient care, as well as applicable safety features.
• Maintains a rapport with ordering physicians and projects a quality provider image in the community by informing principals of changes in patient status.
• Ensures consistent communication with physicians and referral sources to assist patients in a smooth transition from inpatient care to home.
• Assists in resolving equipment problems under emergency conditions.
• Assumes on-call responsibilities during non-business hours in accordance with company standards.
• Assists with preventative maintenance, required service checks, and patient/environmental assessment of the home equipment during scheduled visits to patients.
• Maintains and updates patient records in accordance with company policies.
• Records information received in an accurate manner and documents interactions pertinent to patient care and management of private healthcare information.

Job Qualifications:

• Missouri Respiratory Therapist license
• Kansas Respiratory Therapist license
• Valid driver’s license
