Chesapeake Medical Imaging, a reputable private radiology practice, is looking for a PRN Mammography Technologist for our Annapolis area locations. Ability to cover other locations as needed is a huge plus!
- Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology program and a member in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
- Licensed as a Medical Radiation Technologist and Mammography Technologist in the state of Maryland is required.
- Ability to work independently with very little supervision and exercise sound judgment
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and preventative measures (HIPAA confidentiality, infection spread, etc.)
Certifications
- BLS
- ARRT (Radiology, Mammography)
HOURS: 8-hour, 10-hour, 12-hour shifts available
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Treats patients and customers with courtesy and respect.
- Checks referral for appropriate study and diagnosis.
- Calls referring physician and check with the radiologist when in doubt or with questions as necessary.
- Assures room is ready prior to the patient entering the room (i.e. Equipment is operable and all supplies are readily available).
- Assist radiologist in special procedures when necessary.
- Understands and uses correct exposure factors, compression, and angulation in order to produce high quality images.
- Consults with Radiologist when necessary to determine appropriate exam (screening or diagnostic).
- Puts patients at ease by explaining the procedure and responding to their questions/requests in a professional manner.
- Handles delicate situations in a supportive and empathetic manner.
- Monitors patient’s well being during exam; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and takes appropriate action.
- Keeps patient schedule and accommodates add-on patients when requested.
- Exercise sound judgment regarding image quality; determines when repeats are necessary.
- Practices universal medical precautions.
- Maintains patient confidentiality at all times.
- Remains professional in all situations.
